What are my chances?

Post by SM0303 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 5:15 pm

LSAT: 175-178
Undergrad GPA: 2.8 (top 20 undergraduate school, but liberal arts major)
Graduation Date: Graduated in May 2002 (several years out of school)
Professional Experience:
-after college volunteered as a teacher in poverty stricken country for 2 years
-returned to US and worked as licensed union electrician
-returned to poverty stricken country for past 3 years and founded profitable solar energy company
-will return to US within next year and work in energy/environmental industry (ideally policy related/international development) for one year before applying to law school
Interest in energy/environmental law
White male, mid 30s

Wondering my chances in T10 law schools based on this profile. Undergrad GPA is obviously not very helpful for admission, but wondering how much my atypical work history (I feel I have a compelling story to tell about my background and why I am drawn to law) and distance from undergrad days could help me.

Are you saying you took the LSAT twice and made a 175 and a 178, or you haven't taken it and are expecting a 175-178?

If the former, ED northwestern. Might end up with a full ride.

If the latter, come back with an LSAT score.

Penn, UVA, Duke, NU, GULC are possibilities.

ED NU is not happening, but it may provide a slight admissions bump for when you're rolled into the RD pool.

Likely 0% chance of full ride at NU with a 2.8 but OP could still ED and then see what $ he gets from RD.

I'd apply to MVP and below + any strong regionals in which you are interested.
