167/ 2.86 Asian Splitter 4 yrs out
Hi all,
College timeline -- good grades, really bad grades, time off, 3.7 final year.
Some experience working in a law firm.
Applied late, only applied to UMD, got in...now wondering if I should have been more ambitious and do more applications for next cycle.
Would want to practice in mid-atlantic, but would like to keep a bay-area pipe dream alive.
Interested in IP.

What if I don't really want to practice in the midwest? Is there that much of a difference btw MD and these two? Whats the point -- leverage for more money?

Not sure why this wasn't mentioned...GW seems like it would perfectly fit your goals and they would probably give you 15-20k a year to go there.

With a 167 and a splitter OP may consider ED to GW if OP doesn't retake for 170+ and ED UVA or Penn if willing to pay sticker.John Everyman wrote:Not sure why this wasn't mentioned...GW seems like it would perfectly fit your goals and they would probably give you 15-20k a year to go there.

The 167 is already a re-take 2nd time score. I bet I could break a 170, but would there be a point?
I'm not sure the difference between GW and MD justifies another year delay. I'm an MD resident and like the school. GW just seems expensive and big - even if(-15k.)
Thoughts?
Thanks for the contributions so far.

25% higher employment score seems like a pretty good justification. http://www.lstscorereports.com/compare/maryland/gw/whattodoyeah wrote:The 167 is already a re-take 2nd time score. I bet I could break a 170, but would there be a point?

If you're staying in DC and thinking about IP, have you considered doing some patent prosecution while you go to school? Some firms will pay your tuition if you go part time. (At least they would a few years ago.)

You can't say GW has a 20 percentage point better score when they employ over 14% of their own graduates.

I have a similar GPA with a 17x LSAT. Applied in nov and GW only gave me 30k total.whattodoyeah wrote:Hi all,

However, I got a full ride to UMN and WUSTL, and ~70k at UTexas and USC.
A retake would definitely give you better prospects.
