You will absolutely have to report this to every school. Don't even think about getting cute with convictions/non-convictions. It probably won't affect your overall admissions cycle but it might at HYS. There have been people with around your scores who have been shut out of HYS for various reasons. Only one way to find out.

4. Have you ever been convicted of, or pled guilty or no contest to, any felony or misdemeanor, other than:
-an arrest or other detention that did not result in a conviction, or in which a conviction was vacated;
-a first conviction for any of the following misdemeanors: drunkenness, simple assault, speeding, minor traffic violations, affray or disturbance of the peace; or
-any misdemeanor conviction that occurred more than five years before your application for admission, unless you were also sentenced to imprisonment, or were convicted of any additional offense within the five year period.
Note that you are not required to answer “yes” to this question, or provide an explanation, if the criminal adjudication or conviction has been expunged, sealed, annulled, pardoned, destroyed, erased, impounded, or otherwise ordered by a court to be kept confidential.

In the court document it clearly says there was no finding of guilt and the case was dismissed completely after diversion.

I would talk to a lawyer. The general wisdom is to disclose because it can affect your bar admissions.

You do not need to disclose to Harvard. Others are patently wrong.

I understand. Do you think I will run into problems with the rest of the T14 since I'll be required to disclose charges?Mal Reynolds wrote:I would talk to a lawyer. The general wisdom is to disclose because it can affect your bar admissions.

With your scores I would say you'll probably be fine at least at a few of them. But I'm not sure about the severity of your charges. Take full responsibility in your disclosures. It helps that you've put a lot of distance between you and the charges.Buckeyes1987 wrote:I understand. I absolutely agree with Mal though. Sure, Harvard seems to mean you don't have to say yes, but this can come back to bite you in the ass. If you don't disclose on your apps, you'll still have to disclose on your BAR application. If the c&f reviewer thinks you were trying to be dishonest, she/he can hold up your BAR accreditation for years or even permanently. Go to a c&f lawyer and ask them their opinions.Mal Reynolds wrote:I would talk to a lawyer. The general wisdom is to disclose because it can affect your bar admissions.

Does anyone know of any examples of those with felony charges that have gotten into the t14, other than guys that are like 50.

Re: Chances at T14 with record (sorta)
This is likely not an outcome determinative issue. You made a mistake, learned your lesson, no conviction (assuming it was nolle prosequi).
With that said, you will likely have to disclose it to your school sooner or later. When you apply to the bar (except in minority of states), they will ask you to disclose all incidents, even expunged. In addition, the bar will request your law school to forward them your law school profile, which includes your application. If they notice a discrepancy, they will likely investigate. You will probably be called in for a hearing and be requested to amend your law school application.
Keep the above in mind when you are filling out apps. Again, I personally don't see this as a critical issue. Just make sure you maintain all paperwork and write a detailed addendum.

Re: Chances at T14 with record (sorta)
A police officer issued me a ticket for arguing with him about a party he was breaking up (stupid of me, yes) that a judge dismissed right away. I disclosed it to schools that asked about any charge. For schools specifying a conclusion I did not disclose it, and I don't feel like I at all bent any disclosure rules. This seems different because you had to go to a class to get it dismissed. In the instance I brought up the judge dismissed it because he didn't feel anything of questionable legality took place.

Bruce Reiley killed a professor and was still able to make it into a T1 school, I think you'll be alright with a little steroid use.
The real question still hasn't been answered... are you jacked?

I'm not positive on the convictions, but I believe someone got into Penn. Much worse GPA though (he EDed). He's in his mid twenties.Buckeyes1987 wrote:Does anyone know of any examples of those with felony charges that have gotten into the t14, other than guys that are like 50.
