4.03/171 - scholly at CN vs. H
Am I eligible for merit scholarships at either Columbia or NYU and do I even a decent chance at H? I took the test 4 times (yeah…it sucked) but I think I’ve got solid softs (published writing, oxbridge master’s, good internships).
Thanks!
Thanks!

I think you have better than a coinflip's chance at Harvard but it may come via the waitlist. What are your career goals? You are looking at decent money from Chicago and down.

You should probably be taking the money at CN, unless you're surely going into academia or maybe public interest.

Generally, for large transactional practice, this is true. As someone on scholly on CCN, however, it depends on how much money. Full ride vs H sticker? Definitely CCN. But OP isnt getting a Hamilton or Vanderbilt (nyu full ride) with a 171. They are probably looking at $60-75K at CCN - could even be less. If OP got H and qualified for merit aid, could narrow the gap to $50K or so CoA difference where taking H is entirely justifiable. Wait and see how the cycle pans out: this thread is premature.thsmthcrmnl wrote:You should probably be taking the money at CN, unless you're surely going into academia or maybe public interest.

Your softs look pretty good, and I think that 4 gpa will look sweet to any school. Being published may also give you a decent chance at law review.
Remember, at the top schools, and especially for scholarships, its always a lottery. That being said, your chances are really good. Harvard will certainly be interested in you, but perhaps not to the point of accept or possibly waitlist.
In terms of scholarship, it might get pretty sketchy. You still have a great chance though.
I think you will be extremely competitive anywhere you apply, possibly even for a nice scholarship.
