3.44, 170, M.S. Finance, Work Exp.

Post by FinanceStudent28 » Thu Dec 19, 2013 6:01 pm

3.44 Liberal Arts major Top Ten Public (enough for magna cum laude/high honors)
170 LSAT
3.15 M.S. Finance from private semi-target business school

Work Exp: 1 year wealth management, 2 years boutique M&A analyst (by time of possible enrollment)

Would I have chance at lower T14 schools?

How much does Master's GPA hurt me?

your MS will be a decent soft but won't overcome the GPA.

You might not get into a top T14, but be aware that your degree and experience will be a considerable boost when you start OCI/OCS. I would take the best school you get into with the highest scholly since you will be able to make a school like USC work a little bit better for you.

You'll get somewhere into the top 14. For reference I was 3.31 169 and got into Michigan this cycle via ED. You have a decent shot at Mich, UVA, NW, Penn, Cornell, GULC, and Duke. Won't get into all of them but getting into 2 or 3 of those schools seems likely.

Is there some story related to TLS that I'm not familiar with regarding Northwestern?

Northwestern appears to weigh work experience more heavily than peer schools. I think this is what they were referring too, nothing negative.
