UG GPA question?
I majorly screwed up my Freshman year in ungergrad. Right now, my GPA sits at a 2.57 with 31 credits earned. I had no vision for my life as a freshman, took a year off, and have decided on law. With my new goal, I am just as determined as I was in high school (4.0, second in my class). I just completely lacked direction or motivation my freshman year of undergrad. If I get my GPA up to a 3.7-4.0 range by graduation, can I still be considered by T6 schools? (Obviously with an exceptional LSAT score.) Or will my freshman performance be viewed as unacceptable? Will I need to include a reason for this somehow in my PS or interviews? (I plan to write my PS about how choosing to study law completely turned my life around.)

Your cumulative GPA is all that matters.
But if your school doesn't offer A+'s, then it's going to take you 116.8 credits of straight A's to get up to a 3.7. That's almost 4 more years of 15-credit semesters. And that's assuming you never get a grade lower than an A. Just so you're aware of the task you're setting for yourself.

They do not offer A+s. Say I got a graduate degree and had a 4.0 in graduate school... does that improve my chances?

I was sitting at about a 3.2 and was admitted into Penn with a 170 on the LSAT. If you get your GPA up higher than mine and a few more points on the LSAT you have a chance of getting T6lmitchell11 wrote:I majorly screwed up my Freshman year in ungergrad. And no graduate GPA will not help. They look at the two GPA's separately.

A graduate degree will not have an appreciable impact on your chances. You definitely should not get a graduate degree because you think it will help you get into law school.lmitchell11 wrote:They do not offer A+s.
