I would throw an app at NYU but I'd be more hesitant about Columbia. True, you don't get a URM boost like other Latinos (MAs and PRs) but you have a good LSAT score and your gpa isn't too bad. I would consider mentioning your background in either the personal stament or diversity stament. Good luck!

chances are fairly strong that you will be rejected from all of these schools
are you instate UVA or UT?

Instate in Texas. I also have extensive work experience. Sort of figured these are all long shots, but I figure with the application climate the way it is, you never can tell especially if numbers trend downward this cycle similar to last year. Also wondering how the drop off in LSAT takers will affect things....it'll probably dip another 10k this year.californiauser wrote:chances are fairly strong that you will be rejected from all of these schools

Also applying to Indiana, Boston U, WUSTL...maybe Minnesota since I have a waiver. Any suggestions where to shoot downward for scholarship monies?

Where do you want to work after graduation?

Send emails to the NYU and CLS admissions offices, expressing your strong interest in attending either and asking if you can get a fee waiver.

Man, I dunno. I'd like to have as many options as possible. I've lived on the east coast, west coast, and midwest. I grew up in the South. I can think of positives to working just about anywhere.midwest17 wrote:Where do you want to work after graduation?
Ideal situation would be money to go to a school with national employment appeal.

Don't you need some kind of need based reason? I can't imagine "I need to not waste money on you probably rejecting me" being a compelling reason.vanwinkle wrote:Send emails to the NYU and CLS admissions offices, expressing your strong interest in attending either and asking if you can get a fee waiver.
Should I tell them my numbers or keep that hush hush?

Tell them your numbers. NYU does merit waivers. Columbia will almost certainly tell you that they only send out merit waivers through CRS, but it doesn't hurt to try.StillCutty wrote:Don't you need some kind of need based reason? Poking in from over at the UT/Vandy thread. People with very similar numbers have been admitted to both schools. If the option to ED at either is still there, I would probably do that.

We have almost identical numbers, and I got into both GULC and Vandy. And I'm a super Nordic looking white guy.

I wasn't sure what kind of response I was looking for when I made this post, but this is about perfect. Thank you.TheSpanishMain wrote:We have almost identical numbers, and I got into both GULC and Vandy. And I'm a super Nordic looking white guy.
Anyone notice with online apps half the time you click hispanic/latino, the option that comes up after it looking for more specificity just says hispanic/latino again? Maybe I'll glitch my way into a couple schools...
