Chances? 159/3.4 URM
159/3.4
URM - Hispanic female
Strong softs
Biology major/chemistry minor
Private undergraduate
I've applied all over: UConn, Valpo, IU Maurer, IU McKinney, SLU, URichmond, William & Mary, Baylor, SMU, Arizona State, Arizona, Rutgers - Camden, Ohio State, Wisconsin
I'm a little nervous that I applied to schools out of my reach, but I was hoping the science undergrad, strong softs (I'm really involved and hold a lot of leadership positions and have worked/interned all throughout undergrad), and URM would help my LSAT a little bit...

Where do you want to work after law school and what type of employment do you hope to attain post law school? You're applying to a ton of regional schools in parochial markets.

Yeah, I thought about that. I'm looking into IP/Health and I know I'll have to work in a small firm for about 5-10 years before moving into something more substantial (i.e. hospital, administration, etc.). I have connections to most of these areas and schools and they are areas where I am happy to spend the next 10-20 years in.

When you say Hispanic, do you mean Mexican American?

Well yes, I am both Mexican-American and actually Hispanic (from Spain).

The Mexican is the big boost, not as much the Spanish. I don't know if the boost is as big as it is for AA's. If you can somehow get a 170, you're in great position. There is a boost in hiring as well, but it's much smaller for Mexicans than AA's. Like any applicant, traveling to a TT is likely a weak move.
