3.9/ 169 (highest) Early decision columbia vs. nyu
Ivy school, good softs.
I know Columbia is a reach, but that's my first choice. Wondering if I should hedge my bets and just apply ed NYU instead because it seems like I would have a better chance of getting in there and I definitely want to be in NY.

You shouldn't ED. You're very likely in at NYU RD.

This. Also, there is no boost from EDing at NYU. All you're doing is screwing yourself wrt any possible scholly money.aboutmydaylight wrote:You shouldn't ED. You're very likely in at NYU RD.

Thanks for your reply! I should mention I have a 166 and a 168 as well as the 169 (I feel like that brings down my chances).

It does not bring down your chances. Schools perpetuate this myth but there is little/no empirical data multiple scores hurt you (with the possible exceptions of Yale and Stanford).mslaw2 wrote:Thanks for your reply! You're probably in at CLS RD too. They like other Ivy students, and they have to fill out the class of 172+ with a few high GPA/high 160s like yourself.

Is there any data supporting the fact that I can get into NYU RD? From what I've read/ been told it looked like my only shot for CLS or NYU was ED. Just trying to minimize the risk that I apply ED CLS and then not get into either school.

ED has no effect at NYU. It has a small to negligible effect at CLS. If money is no object, then by all means ED CLS. Otherwise, just RD everywhere.
