Way low 2.66/146, looking for some advice
I have a 2.66 and I recently just took the October LSAT without much practice just to see what I would get and received a 146. I know both are pretty low, but at least I know where I am at. My ultimate goal is to get into a T3-4 law school in California (cause I'm in California), what do you think my chances are currently?
I have roughly a little over a month until December LSAT and I am willing to commit as many hours as possible to raise my LSAT score. Can anyone give me any rough estimates of how high I need to raise my LSAT before I can be considered by any schools?

You need to raise your LSAT score to 167+ before you will get enough money to make any school worth attending. The TTTs and TTTTs in California have some of the worst employment outcomes in the country, and are simultaneously very expensive. What are you currently doing for a living? Perhaps it would be prudent to reconsider law school altogether.

Don't go to law school. Your numbers make you, in the immortal words of Mr. Pancakes, "disqualified." And that's fine, you'll just have to find a different line of work.

I double majored in Political Science and Economics. My gpa was above 3 when I was taking all my political science courses but dropped under when I started taking economics courses (I didn't have enough units to graduate after completing all my political science courses so I was forced to take up a minor, which then turned into a major.)RedShift wrote:I would spend way more than a month studying for the test if your starting point is 146. Like, 4 months at least.
Can I ask what your major was?
I currently have a part time job in the marketing industry. But like I said, I just need to know a viable range for my LSAT score to be considered by T3-4 so I can at least get a shoe in into law school. After that, I have other plans.

Unless your daddy is a partner somewhere, I'd seriously consider NOT going to law school at all.iloveturtles wrote:After that, I have other plans.

Yes, of course. I just want a serious response other than what I should consider something else. I'm not oblivious to the fact that those two are very low numbers, but I have made a plan and the first step is to get into a law school in California.redsox wrote:World domination?iloveturtles wrote:After that, I have other plans.
So realistically speaking, would getting a 160ish allow me to be considered by T3-4s?

The most serious response you're going to get is not to go to law school. It's a terrible market out there. You will rack up debt that you can never pay off. Don't go. Seriously.

No, but the odds are heavily stacked against them. Obviously some people will get lucky.iloveturtles wrote:So you're saying everyone in T3-4s right now is screwed and delusional for going there?Danger Zone wrote:The most serious response you're going to get is not to go to law school. Re: Way low 2.66/146, looking for some advice
Then I rather take those chances. Look, if I studied and took the LSAT again and got a crappy score. I understand that's my responsibility as is my low GPA, and gladly consider something else. But all I'm asking for here is a reasonable LSAT score where I may be considered into T3-4s.Danger Zone wrote:No, but the odds are heavily stacked against them. The majority certainly are. Would you go to a casino and put 200k on red?iloveturtles wrote:So you're saying everyone in T3-4s right now is screwed and delusional for going there?Danger Zone wrote:The most serious response you're going to get is not to go to law school. You have a 2.66 GPA and a 146 LSAT. Were those part of the *plan*? If so, you made a really bad *plan*. If not, what makes you think that the other parts of the *plan* will suddenly start *working*?iloveturtles wrote:I would put 200k on red, if I have a *plan*.

Re: Way low 2.66/146, looking for some advice
I feel like I have posted this before...
The school with the best employment numbers you could get into even after scoring a 160 is Santa Clara. At Santa Clara, you will not receive a scholarship. This will mean taking out $240k in debt. Even if you live at home, eat off of your parents, and in general have $0 of living expenses, you will still take out $150k in debt.
Approximately 40% of Santa Clara grads secure legal employment after graduation. 60% fail entirely in their quest to become a lawyer. That $200k debt will still have to be paid off. Of those lucky 40%, 75% get jobs that pay around $50k/year.
Only 10% of grads secure jobs that could possibly pay off the debt accrued. Of those 10%, many get those jobs because they have highly desirable backgrounds in computer science or engineering, which you do not have.
This is not a recipe for a happy outcome, no matter how badly you want to become a lawyer.

Since this is shaping up to be a flame is it ok to start being mean/snarky toward the OP? Or do we have to wait for him to tip his flamey hand even more?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
