Re: Strategy for 2.95/172
I imagine you will get NU RD, and stand a very good shot at getting UVA ED. If NU is your top choice I would ED (even though you definitely will not get it) because it seems to have led to good results for similar applicants while they have offered the full-ride ED.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think I really stood that great of a chance at UVA. Good to know about the ED NU bump, as well. I found this posted in another thread:

Given UVA's guaranteed ED turnaround time, if I apply ED in the next few days I should still have enough time to ED NU before their Dec. 1 deadline.

Good plan. At least during my cycle (2 years ago), UVA tended to take 170+ splitters via ED as long as they had a 2.9+.

Getting cold feet about dedicating to the possibility of UVA. Is there any argument to be made for not applying ED anywhere, or is that an objectively bad decision?

One last bump and then I'll let this die.
Which gives me more of an advantage: NU ED in late November (after I wait on UVA ED), or NU RD tomorrow (as soon as I apply to UVA ED)?

you can't ED to Northwestern - their ED program comes with a full ride scholarship, and they rarely ever award it to anyone who isn't above both medians (170+/3.8+ or so). They definitely won't look at a splitter. You want to ED UVA and RD NU, if anything.objection_your_honor wrote:One last bump and then I'll let this die.

You missed that he knew that, his plan is to get moved to rd, but have displayed the desire to attend with ed, whether it works that way, we don't really know.jbagelboy wrote:you can't ED to Northwestern - their ED program comes with a full ride scholarship, and they rarely ever award it to anyone who isn't above both medians (170+/3.8+ or so). Well, I still wouldn't ED.Clearly wrote:You missed that he knew that, his plan is to get moved to rd, but have displayed the desire to attend with ed, whether it works that way, we don't really know.jbagelboy wrote:you can't ED to Northwestern - their ED program comes with a full ride scholarship, and they rarely ever award it to anyone who isn't above both medians (170+/3.8+ or so). Apply to NU RD tomorrow. You won't get any boost for applying ED first. Since ED comes with $150K, they're not going to view your app as signaling unconditional love.objection_your_honor wrote:One last bump and then I'll let this die.
