3.4/172
Hey - just got a new LSAT and trying to figure out strategy...
3.4/172 w strong softs and a couple years of work experiences, public interest focus (but also academic). I have a decent story for the GPA.
Would love to crack CCN. Is there any chance those are in play? Or should I really focus on MVP. I have a second lower LSAT, so sense is that NYU is out...but for some reason all these predictor things seem to think there's at a chance at Chi??

The second lower LSAT will not matter at all - schools do not average even if they insist that they do. Softs/your story for the GPA will not matter at all.
NYU is actually potentially in play, and you may want to consider ED since you are unlikely to get significant money elsewhere. I would apply to MVP on down, plus Columbia and NYU (I think Chi is out with that GPA/LSAT combo).

Hm...not even with an early to Chicago? LSN seems to suggest a decent boost for ED splitters there (also, I'm not sure I'll make the NYU early deadline, academic report might not be ready by the 15th, whereas Chi and Penn both only need the file to be complete Dec. 1) Not a great reason to choose a school, but honestly Chi is my first choice, and the other two are very close seconds.....

Re: 3.4/172
thanks! these are both very helpful. slackademic - would you suggest ED or riding waitlists in retrospect?slackademic wrote:I had similar numbers. Higher GPA.
HYS are obviously out.
Chicago-- I was waitlisted and din't really show strong interest. It's a stretch.
Columbia-- Waitlisted/rejected after not following up. YMMV.
NYU-- Waitlisted, and easily the most in play of these three. You could make a strong case and it's possible. You could have a pretty decent chance with an ED here.
Penn-- Waitlisted/rejected at the very last minute. An ED here would be a decent shot. Otherwise the odds aren't in your favor, but it's possible.
Virginia-- Definite possibility.
Michigan-- Definite possibility.
Berkeley-- lol, just lol... that is not happening (but I guess never say never...)
Northwestern-- Definite possibility. Your softs might help here if it's full time work experience/time away from school.
Probably in at Cornell and GTown. A little iffier at Duke, but pretty good chance there as well.
Your GPA addendum won't be too important unless you had a bad disease or something. Your softs likewise won't matter too much, but you have a good LSAT so you'll get something in the T14.
HTH.
