You are a virtual lock at UVA ED. And you will be fine RD at GULC.
Someone got in to Penn RD last year with $55k, having your exact same numbers.
BU/BC actually accepted most 3.0+ splitters this year, but don't expect too much money.

Congrats on the jump! I'd just like to chime in and say that you may want to consider WUSTL, as they've been giving out BIG bucks to people with your numbers.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Also, I don't know if writing an addendum would be a good idea. I don't know exactly what your situation is but you certainly don't want to come off as saying basically, "my major was too hard, so I switched it to something I could excel at." This would certainly hurt you rather than help you. But like I said I don't know what you mean when you say "much of it was due to a change in major"

If Penn's your top choice, ED to Penn. You can always ED to UVA later on.
Can you retake? I think even a 171 would definitely help you at at Penn and UVA.

No addendum period. Choice of major is not a good enough reason to have a bad gpa, and you will only draw more attention to it/possibly look ridiculous.

I do. Admissions will be able to see a change in your course work and surmise that you changed your major (especially if you went from bio to history or something). It seems like you are going to have to write an addendum explaining why you were put on academic probation as part of your C&F portion of your app. But an addendum to explain your GPA will only come off negatively. They will think, "well what if law is hard for him, he can't just switch majors here..." Your LSAT is solid and your GPA isn't the worst. Make sure your app is perfect and you are straightforward about everything and take responsibility, that would go much farther than a GPA addendum in your case.ckyo01 wrote:i see where you are coming from. thanks for your input.Travis12 wrote:Also, I don't know if writing an addendum would be a good idea. although im ashamed to admit it, i entered school as a biology major because my parents were high on me becoming going to medical school. it was never an interest of mine. i soon realized where my passion was when i just did not enjoy what i was studying and switched to political science. at that point my gpa went from 2.7 to 3.6 but the damage had been done.
i would also have to mention that i was placed on academic probation after my freshman year, in danger of losing a full scholarship. i had numerous talks with my dean and was able to perform well enough after changing my major to stay on the dean's list for the rest of my college career.
indeed, it does seem like "my major was too hard so i switched". do you still think that itd do more harm than good?
