Before I get flame-sprayed, yes, I plan on retaking. I'd like to go to school in NYC. I was wondering that if for some awful reason I don't do any better, do I stand a chance of getting into Cardozo or Brooklyn? I figure I'm pretty safe with what I have for St. John's already. It should be noted that I'm ex-military, so will be getting GI-Bill benefits (St. Johns's and Cardozo give full rides to admitted vets, i.e., I'd be making money going to either of those).
I know that even with a killer 2nd score, the Big Boys (Columbia/NYC) are out. I'll shoot for 170s and hope I can pull off Fordham.
The real question I'm after here is, is a 161 good enough for Cardozo or Brooklyn?

I wouldn't say that Columbia and NYU are necessarily out. Kill that LSAT and you have a fighting chance especially with your military background. I bet a few months from now we will all be voting in your Columbia/NYU thread.

You would get in to Cardozo or Brooklyn, but why would you attend when you have retakes left?
Good luck on your retake. Yellow Ribbon/GI will also help you at much more employable law schools.
Thanks for your service

Correct answer here is:
1) retake, get 17X
2) ED UVA
1) retake, get 17X
2) ED UVA

In at both, but know that CLS/NYU are definitely not out if you score 171+
With yellow ribbon/GI paying for it, retake and ED UVA really is a great option. Are you retaking in October? If so good luck and thanks for your service!
