How delusional am I?
Me:
GPA - 3.61 from a top ranked small liberal arts school
LSAT - 166/165 (Oct 12 and June 13)
1 year WE as a paralegal for US Attorney's Office (will be 2 yrs by the time I matriculate)
Not URM
Schools:
Virginia (ED)
Penn
Cal
Michigan
Northwestern
Georgetown
Texas
Vanderbilt
UCLA
USC
So am I kidding myself, or do I have a realistic shot at any of these schools?

I retook in June to try and bring it up from the October score, and ended up with the same score basically. Not sure how much help retaking it a third time would be.dstars823 wrote:based on my LSN you have an ok shot at texas and cornell... however youre probably looking at sticker, retake in october if you can bring it up just 4 pts youre gonna be pretty solid

pretty delusional.
Law school admissions revolves primarily around medians. You are below both medians at all the schools you listed, and thus have very little chance of admission. If you are admitted, it will almost certainly be at sticker.
Your numbers are fit for WUSTL/UMN/GW and down. You would have a decent shot at USC/UT if their median fell to 166.
UVA ED definitely wont work. They pretty much hate below both median candidates the most.

I agree with the "pretty delusional" comment. You basically have a 0% chance at UVa or Penn. Maybe Cornell but chances aren't good. If these are the schools you want, retake the LSAT.

The schools you listed only care about your highest score. Basically, your GPA is not likely good enough to overcome a below median LSAT. OTOH, your GPA is good enough to get you in at schools where you hit the median LSAT.bostonbrewer wrote:Not sure how much help retaking it a third time would be.

i mean what is it going to hurt if you retake a 3rd time, schools only take your highest so you almost have nothing to lose.

Thanks for all the advice, everybody.
Not sure this is the right forum for this, but if my goal is to do the JAG how much does it matter to go to a top-10, -15, -25, etc. school?

JAG hiring is very competitive and school certainly matters. Are you former military?bostonbrewer wrote:Thanks for all the advice, everybody.

Which LAC?
With declining applications, I'm seeing people with 166/3.6 getting into UCLA, USC, even Gtown, Cornell, and NU off the waitlist. It's very doable, but you will be paying near sticker. Is this really what you want? Is your family romney-esque or would you be loaning your CoA?
Sorry about the disappointing retake. You still have a 3rd this year; I would strongly consider October. If you are top LAC then you have the brainpower for 170+
