3.58/171 Columbia/NYU?
Alright, so I am a non-URM with decent softs, and I just got my 171 on the June 2013 LSAT. I had been PTing avg. of 170-172 so I was happy to not fall from that. I still have my senior year, so my question is, how much of a crank in my GPA would help my chances? I'm a mathematics major, so quite frankly, some of my classes are near impossible to ace. I strongly feel I could break a 3.6 is I live and die by my classes. Would that be enough? Thanks.

That should be enough for NYU. Their median LSAT dropped to 171 after last cycle and I don't see it going back up.jcb5329 wrote:Alright, so I am a non-URM with decent softs, and I just got my 171 on the June 2013 LSAT. So using just this cycle:

So good chance at NYU with 3.6. Chances at Columbia aren't great since you're below both medians for now.
If you want a significantly better shot, consider retaking the 171 for a 172.

Wow, that is such a jump for that point. I'll have to put in some serious consideration in the next few weeks. I'm not really pulled to Columbia over NYU in my head. Hmm...

Yeah, I mean if by chance you were intent on Columbia and willing to pay sticker, there was one person who did ED to Columbia and got in with a 3.64/171 this cycle. But that's just one datapoint which is no guarantee of success.jcb5329 wrote:Wow, that is such a jump for that point. I'll have to put in some serious consideration in the next few weeks. Yeah, I'm not that set on Columbia haha. If I did retake, I would take most of July off to not burn out, so I have time to think before studying. Thanks!
