3.3/175 URM

Post by upwardtrend » Sat Jun 15, 2013 10:10 pm

Wondering about chances at T14, specifically whether CCN is likely (or if perhaps H,S is worth an app). Not sure how much URM (Hispanic- Mexican) helps in my case.

Hispanic female (Mexican heritage)
UGPA: 3.35 (struggled mightily early with pre-med courses)
Major: Chemistry
Undergraduate School: Duke
LSAT: 175
Good softs.

Question: Is this 175 already in the books, or are you a June tester?

If it's real:

I'd say you have more than a chance.

Apply everywhere and put together a tight app.

I think you have pretty good chances at T6. Also, I think you'll definitely get T14.
I also think you should definitely apply to HYS.
I know someone who was male, half-hispanic, with strong top-undergrad gpa (around 3.8 in a 4.0 scale), good but not great LSAT (high 160's; can't remember exactly if it was a 168 or 169), 2 years of significant WE, double major in electrical engineering and poli sci.
He got into Yale.
Your profile is similar (reverse the GPA and LSAT), I don't know if you have WE, but you are also a female, which is more desirable.
Check law school predictor and law school numbers (search other URMs with high LSATs and similar GPAs. I think you'll find good prospects).

Edited to remove quote per the comments from the below post.

You've given just about enough information to out you, so I would recommend closing the thread and asking others not to quote after you are satisfied with your responses.

I think you have a very strong in at CCN and some chance at Harvard.

Good luck!

I'm a newbie, and just wondering...By "outing", do you mean that adcomms browse the forum and could recognize her profile? :O
Pretty much. Or possibly others with too much time on their hands.

There are probably only 1-3 Mexicans who score that or higher on the LSAT per cycle.

The undergrad + major seals it.
