3.77/168 Decent IP schools?
I'm currently working on my master's degree portion of a combined BS/MS in pharmaceutics. Undergrad GPA is 3.77, LSAT 168. Softs include lots of work experience at a pharmacy, city court internship a few years back, and a heck of a lot of research. Hopefully a publication for research through the course of my masters *fingers crossed*.
I'm looking for a school with a good IP program, that together with my schooling and research will get me a job in pharmaceutical/biotech IP law. Right now top choice is George Washington, but just wanted to see if people have any better/more realistic ideas of good schools, and if they might know what my chances are at GW. (Due to my husband's job, i'm trying to limit my search to schools at either coast, preferably near a naval base, but I'm open to any and all suggestions)

Nobody really cares about quality of your program, but GWU probably has the best reputation of any non-T14 school for IP.thatgingergirl wrote:I'm currently working on my master's degree portion of a combined BS/MS in pharmaceutics. OP said east coast brah. and options with 3.77/168 are not bad.SFSpartan wrote:Retake in October. Get that LSAT up and go to Berkeley
You would likely get a bunch of $$ at GWU. For biotech, I know there's a lot of activity in NC tech which would make Duke appealing. NYU is solid as well but it would require a retake.

Either coast is ok, actually. I could make it work if I got into Berkeley, hubby and I would just be like 6 hrs. apart.jbagelboy wrote:OP said east coast brah. and options with 3.77/168 are not bad.SFSpartan wrote:Retake in October. Get that LSAT up and go to Berkeley

I've done a cursory look at Duke so far. Maybe It's time to explore that option further. Hmm.
Thanks for the input!

Which T14 you go to doesn't really matter.

+1. You'll probably need to retake either way. A 168 is likely waitlist bound at Duke and Berkeley.Desert Fox wrote:Which T14 you go to doesn't really matter.

Think of the T14 as T14 + GWU. Then figure it doesn't matter which of those schools you go to.
You're above both medians from what I understand. If you can get your LSAT up to maybe 170, I'd ED to GWU for the full ride. Even if you don't get the full ride, your ED will probably keep you from being YP'd.

Disagree. While it's possible that OP gets in, its much more likely that she's waitlisted. I think Duke was one of the few schools with an increase in apps from last year. Best case scenario, she's 1 point below median on the LSAT. In all likelihood, she's 2 points below. Being .03-.05 above their GPA median won't make up for thatizha wrote:In at Duke.mr.hands wrote:+1. You'll probably need to retake either way. GW is not a bad option. For a non-T14, they're pretty strong in patent law. That said, don't settle from non-T14
