Don't ED to Georgetown. If you're going to ED, ED to Northwestern because it comes with a $150,000 scholarship. Military service is a great soft and I think it will help overcome the GPA. Personally - I would write a great personal statement, apply from Columbia down. I think that as long as applications don't rise (unlikely), you'll be looking at some great options.

CCN is not out for sure. You have a pretty decent shot at NYU based on your numbers, and your military service should give you a boost. Your chances at CC aren't zero, either.

If you're active duty Army, do you get to use the GI Bill for a solid part of your tuition (and potentially use Yellow Ribbon to pick up this rest)? If so, ED NYU for sure.

I was poster above who said don't ED anywhere but NYU. If you're 100% GI Bill eligible, ED NYU or a public school.twentypercentmore wrote:If you're active duty Army, do you get to use the GI Bill for a solid part of your tuition (and potentially use Yellow Ribbon to pick up this rest)? OP, go talk to someone in person who understands the GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon program. If you can pick between NYU for free or UVA for free, obviously pick NYU, but it seems that the GI Bill only pays 100% of a state school's tuition, and roughly 17k a year at a private school (not including whatever YR contributions take place).
It's absolutely worth looking into. You're more or less a lock at UVA ED, and you're pretty close to a lock at NYU.

NYU, Columbia and Stanford have pledged to raise their Yellow Ribbon to cover 100% of tuition and fees starting in Fall 2013.

Apply to at least HS, Y might be out of the question given their reliance on academic recs, but HS are not. People on TLS tend to be terribly pessimistic, but you seem to have a great story to tell and one that can be used to say you are ready to be the best student and be competent at the highest academic institutions. Plus, apps are free for military, so nothing lost by applying to HS. Do not ED anywhere, keep your options open.
Write a gret statement and make sure other people give you feedback on it. Get great recs and apply to all T14. I'm sure you'll have a great cycle.

From what I've seen, the enlisted veteran bump is quite a bit smaller than the officer veteran bump (i was enlisted). You have zero shot at S with that GPA, but feel free to throw the app out their way just to cover your bases (i did and my gpa is worse than yours
). If you really like NYU I think an ED there would be smart. Its right at that point where you are probably looking at getting waitlisted as is, so it would be a good place to use it. Otherwise you also have a pretty good shot at snagging upenn ED. I would only ed UVA if you were 100% positive you wanted to go there because of something specific like being from virginia.

Basically, ED somewhere from Cornell to NYU -- pretty much coming down to your choice. If you really like Philly, go to Penn. If you really like NYC, go to NYU. GULC is an objectively worse school than the rest of the T14, but other than that they're fairly negligable in terms of superiority to eachother.

UVA is at the foot of the mountains, and a good distance away from Norfolk. While Norfolk certainly sucks, Charlottesville does not.
