Question
I am getting ready to apply to Law Schools in the Fall. I graduated in 2008 with a low GPA from a small school, due to the fact I worked full time while attending school full time. My Major GPA was a 3.3, and Cumulative was a embarrassing 2.6, hardly went to class due to work. I took the LSAT for the first time in October of 2012 and scored a 178. I have been advise to write an addendum for my low GPA, but will I have a Chance at Georgetown or Harvard? I plugged in my states into http://www.hourumd.com/ and it said I have a 1% chance. Has anyone every been accepted into HLS or GULC with those kind of states, I am also a URM.
Any insight would be awesome!

Re: Question
Do the addendum b/c 5 years out plus a reasonable excuse such as full-time work may really help. I'm still not 100% sure as far as HYS go, but you will have a very good shot at CCN with money.
also, what race are you? AA or NA will be really helpful, and you're probably looking at a good shot at named full rides from some of 4-10

That. Changes. Everything. Enjoy CCN with $$ (or maybe even HYS).

Re: Question
If his LSAC GPA is 2.6, that might will rule him out of HYS.

Re: Question
And his lsat is a 178 as an AA male. Two things: 1) there is no data for this sort of splitter URM. 2) I doubt more than 100 AA males have applied with a 175+ in the last 5 years. So again, no data.HankBashir wrote:If his LSAC GPA is 2.6, thatmightwill rule him out of HYS.
Don't make such definitive statements.
OP blanket the t10 and you'll get lots of acceptances and money. Apply September 1st. GL

Re: Question
When you consider the fact that for the class of 2015, the lowest GPA Yale took was 3.49 and for the class of 2014, the lowest SLS took was 3.3, (and I have no reason to believe that HLS's stats are significantly different) even with such a high LSAT, I'm pretty sure that will rule him out. A 2.6 is less than the median GPA for all AA applicants to law school (which a few years ago was 2.96). That GPA hurts him to the point that I don't think the LSAT can cover it, at least for HYS.toothbrush wrote:And his lsat is a 178 as an AA male. CCN on down is probably a go, but HYS? I'm not saying OP shouldn't apply, but OP should definitely go in with no expectations.
Especially if he doesn't have any solid softs.

Re: Question
Don't read my comment - I misread 3.2 as your overall gpa. You still will probably get CCN with money and some shot at H
