What is my chance? LSAT 173 and miscellaneous Forum

-GPA:
1. 2.8 (Undergraduate GPA from a community college with major in Business Administration)
2. 3.2 (Undergraduate GPA from a city college with major in Accounting)
3. 3.96 (Master of accounting GPA from a city college)
PS: I heard about LSAC may average the GPAs from undergraduate colleges, so I guess my undergraduate GPA will be even lower than the above.
-Certification:
CPA
-Experience:
1. 4-year part-time tax return preparer in a small size CPA firm
2. 2-year so far a full time in IRS
-Activities:
1. 4-year volunteer tax return preparer in a volunteer program. The last year in the program I was more likely a lecturer who sat in the volunteer cite teaching volunteer preparer to solve some issues
2. Once holding a volunteer campus event regarding tax return preparation for two years

My plan:I am planning to apply the part-time evening JD in Fordham Law. But my ultimate goal is to complete NYU's LLM in Taxation. I am thinking about transferring from Fordham to NYU for dual degree-JD/LLM. I don't know my chances in both application to Fordham (part-time) and NYU (transfer and dual). I appreciate your opinions from the bottom of my heart.

You certaintly cant bank on transfering to NYU from F.

To transfer into the T14 you need:
-top 10-15% at T1, top 5-10% for CCN
-top 5-10% at a T2, top 5% for CCN
-top 1-2% at a T3/T4

Assuming 3.0/173..

I would guess your chances at F PT are probably better than 50/50. Youll probably get in if you can convince them youll matriculate.

I would guess your chances at NYU are like 20-30%. (straight up, not transfering)

If you havent, you should also consider applying to UVA, NU, GULC, Penn, Vandy, UMN, GW, & WUSTL. Sounds like you really wanna stay in NY though.

Back to the topic, I love my position in IRS so I can only pursue a part-time JD. I didn't learn the transfer rule on NYU website...it is fine, guess i can finish my JD in Fordham...I once really messed up my undergraduate...so my graduate GPA won't help that much?

Back to the topic, I love my position in IRS so I can only pursue a part-time JD. I didn't learn the transfer rule on NYU website...it is fine, guess i can finish my JD in Fordham...I once really messed up my undergraduate...so my graduate GPA won't help that much?

Your graduate GPA is considered a soft factor so sadly it won't help very much. Law School admissions is almost entirely a numbers game, despite their talk of holistic admissions, and the only two numbers that matter are your LSAC GPA and LSAT score. Perhaps if you are on the edge of getting in they may see your Master's GPA and admit you, but don't count on it outweighing your undergrad GPA. Still, don't lose hope. If you score a 173 you have a decent chance at NYU. A 175+ might even open Columbia and would increase your chances at NYU.

For non-URMs, they will essentially never go even that low. If you're using lawschoolpredictor.com to come up with your predictions, don't. It's useless junk.

LSN reports no acceptances in the past 5 years even below 3.2 for non-URMs.
