3.7X 172 then 167
3.7X GPA, applied late in the cycle. I got a 172 the first time I took the LSAT. I took it again in February, and I was definitely more nervous than usual, but didn't think of any concrete reason to cancel my score, so I didn't. It turns out I got a 167, which really surprised me. I had been PTing 169-178, averaging 174, with a 177 on the practice test right before the February LSAT. So the real test turned out to be my lowest score in months. I've gotten accepted at one T14 school, but I'd really like to do better.
1) HYS seems unlikely now, what do you think my odds look like for CCN, University of Pennsylvania, and UCB? (The lower 2nd score makes me think that you guys might have some insight beyond LSN.)
2) Should I consider sending some sort of addendum explaining the situation? The score seemed abnormal, and I would like to express that, but my gut tells me that without a concrete reason it's going to sound like whining, especially because I didn't exercise the option to cancel my score.
Thanks in advance.

if there is no reason why you scored lower, then there is no addendum

Why did you delete your last digit at the end of your GPA? I honestly don't understand how so many on TLS are so paranoid

They are also "good" at Columbia.longlivetheking wrote:wait a second regulus you're telling me a 3.7x/172 only has a 'possible chance' at columbia and only 'decent' at nyu????? wtf?
I'd forgotten how low the GPA standards at the schools in New York are (for some reason I thought they were higher while I was writing my comment above).
yea its those 'low' standards that keep people like me dreaming.

Thanks for the advice! I was so tunnel-visioned on this admission cycle that I didn't even consider this.PRgradBYU wrote:Retake... again.
Also thanks Regulus, I hope they look at me as 3.7x/172, but I'm inclined to think that they'll see the 5 point difference as significant, the only question is HOW significant. If they really do average, they'll be looking at me like 3.7x/169.5, and my odds will definitely be close to your first post. I'm hoping that they just consider the average, but put significantly more weight on the higher score.

They won't even consider the average. Seriously.
