From what I've seen around here, it looks like my GPA is a bit low. I'm an undergrad at the University of Chicago, and I'm not sure how much law schools take that into account the overall grading curves at various undergrad institutions. Do they care about differences in GPAs among different majors? I majored in math, which has a much lower average GPA here than majors like philosophy and sociology.
How much will various tables/predictor sites apply to me? Do I have any shot at all of HYS?
For location reasons, my ideal top schools are:
Stanford
Berkeley
Chicago
Northwestern
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: I'm also a gay Chinese male. Does that have any impact?

Unfortunately not much because USN doesn't.yes_please wrote:I'm not sure how much law schools take that into account the overall grading curves at various undergrad institutions.
Same; a little but not a lot.yes_please wrote:Do they care about differences in GPAs among different majors?
They do: http://myLSN.info/w30812yes_please wrote:How much will various tables/predictor sites apply to me?
Unfortunately not a very good one with that GPA. It's still worth the app fee, though.yes_please wrote:Do I have any shot at all of HYS?
Not URM, but your sexual orientation would make a good diversity statement.yes_please wrote:I'm also a gay Chinese male. Does that have any impact?

Chicago is a maybe, NU you're probably in, more so if you work a year, probably out at Stanford and Berkely.
Edit: actually you probably have a 50/50 shot at Berkely. I would apply to all 4, but be prepared to maybe only snag one or two.
