3.0/169 - Chance at T14?
Just got my October score of 169. Previous test was a 165. As stated, GPA is 3.0.
What are my chances at the lower T14? Namely UVA or GULC. Would it be a good idea for me to ED at either of those schools? If so, which one's the better bet?
I know I'm probably out at Cornell because of my GPA, any chance at Penn?
Thanks

No shot at Penn. Would need to ED for GULC or UVA. Good luck!

GULC is your best shot. Out at UVA because I doubt their median will fall to 169.

Would it be a good idea to ED at UVA first though because they give you an answer in 2 weeks, then if its a no ED GULC?Nova wrote:GULC is your best shot. Out at UVA because I doubt their median will fall to 169.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently GULC's ED deadline is March 1st.
Is there a downside to applying ED to UVA first and if they deny me, then applying ED to GULC? I'm leaning towards doing this as I'd be happy at either school.

No, and UVA guarantees a decision within 15 days of ED submission so you won't have to wait that long to apply to GULC if UVA doesn't work out.boredtodeath wrote:EDIT: Nevermind, apparently GULC's ED deadline is March 1st.

There is no point in applying to Cornell; they have a hard gpa floor at 3.3. In fact, with a 3.0, you are below every T-14 gpa floor except NU and GULC. However, in past cycles, to get a 3.0 into NU or GULC took at least a 171 or 172 LSAT. It is possible you will have a very small chance at GULC this year due to their LSAT median being 169 now but you're still probably looking at a super reach. Forget about Duke and NU, but there might be a very small chance at Michigan as their floor is pretty soft and they have showed some precedence for taking lower numbers for whatever holistic reasons. But 3.0/169 is still a serious longshot.

Counter-intuitively, I would actually wait to ED UVA if that's what you want to do. LSN seems to indicate an intention to maintain the 170 LSAT median. If it is going to drop, they will decide to let it do so later (like February-March) if they realize they can't maintain a 170. At that point, a 169 ED would be much more valuable. As of now, though, you really have no shot at UVA, ED or otherwise. Michigan could be in play though if you write a good PS.

You're actually in a VERY different situation from OP. I don't know how long you've been lurking these boards, but you will come to realize, if you haven't already, that schools' rankings are based primarily on their GPA and LSAT medians (I apologize if I'm insulting your intelligence here. The fact that you asked the question the way you did just makes it seem like you aren't aware of this). Your GPA sucks, but 170 puts you at UVA's median. My advice to you would be the exact opposite from that for the OP. Because you are at the current median, if you want to ED UVA, you should do so sooner rather than later.shibby wrote:Interesting. I'm in a pretty similar situation as the OP (3.06/170) and was planning to ED UVA in the next couple ideas. Do you really think I don't have a shot??FattyMcFatFat wrote:Counter-intuitively, I would actually wait to ED UVA if that's what you want to do.
