176/3.52, Fulbright, where should I apply?

Post by adoseofwendy » Sun Sep 30, 2012 8:31 pm

Like I said in the topic headline, I have a 176 (the first time I took the LSAT i got a 169), a 3.52, and currently am doing a Fulbright. Where are schools I should apply (reaches, matches) and as a separate question, where am I likely to get significant financial aid?

Thanks. :)

My top choices are Columbia and Berkeley. Geographically, I'd like to be either in NYC or SF but I wouldn't mind going elsewhere for law school. But I'm also very sensitive to tuition cost.

Apply everywhere in the T14, minus HYS. Probably not getting Berkeley either, but who knows, worth a shot.

You'll almost definitely get one of either NYU or Columbia, and might even get money. Outside shot at Chicago and Michigan's always a tossup, then Duke on down you're getting in, and probably with money.

I think above poster is being a bit pessimistic. An HYS application would not at all be a waste of time and Berkeley will look favorably on your Fulbright (congrats on that). Be aware though that unless the policy has changed, Berkeley does not give out merit scholarships. CCNMVP all do though and they'll all like your 176. Good luck.

Nope.

A Fulbright is a good soft, but it's not enough to overlook the GPA. An app(s) at HYS is a waste of somewhere between 80 and 240 dollars.

I would still apply to Harvard, they have a huge class and have to get high LSATs somewhere. LSN's data covers about 50 apps for the past 5 years, I wouldn't save $100 based on that.

click on my profile and the link to LSN. Expect a TON of waitlists and to end up at a T6 with OK money.
