School list complete? 172/3.4
I have a 172/3.4 and I'm sending apps out this weekend. Should I apply anywhere else? (I'm not going to the Midwest for anything other than NU or Michigan, assuming correctly that Chicago is not a possibility.) Thanks y'all!
Columbia (totally not gonna happen)
NYU (ED)
Fordham
Brooklyn
Cardozo
Duke
Cornell
Berkeley
Georgetown
Michigan
UCLA
UPenn
UVA
Northwestern
I'm contemplating adding GWU, but I feel like it might be a wasted $100.

I'm taking the lack of replies to mean my school list is complete!

The list makes sense to me, but why not drop Brooklyn and Cardozo?

If I panic and I decide I can't leave New York I could go to either for near free. I won't do this because it would be a waste of a 172 but I'm doing it so I can pretend I definitely don't have to move in a year!Swimp wrote:The list makes sense to me, but why not drop Brooklyn and Cardozo?

You think so? I know it's a great school but I've never really looked into it. I definitely want to practice in New York so I guess I'll have to look into their stats for that.bizzybone1313 wrote:UT-Austin? Probably big scholly.....

No, awful advice. They are one of the schools with the strictest GPA floors. May loosen a little but not to the point where you'd get a lot of money.francesfarmer wrote:You think so? That's fine, I have very little interest in being in Texas for three years and their placement in NY does not look strong. Maybe I'll fill out my list with some T20-30 in the Northeast over the next few months as I await my decision from NYU, which I am relatively sure will be a WL.bernaldiaz wrote:No, awful advice. I have similar numbers (3.46/173) and my list is also fairly similar to yours; the main differences are my fallback option is the midwest and I have no interest in the west coast. If you're absolutely set against the midwest then your current list looks fairly good; otherwise Vandy and WUSTL are pretty safe choices. But to echo what has been said, definitely add Chicago - the chances aren't great, but if anything they're better than chances at Berkeley with a sub-3.6 gpa.

I'm def not holding my breath for Berkeley, but I figure 170+ LSAT scores are so rare nowadays with applications down so much that I have a better shot than ever. I've been monitoring law school admissions cycles since 2009. I'm pretty stoked on this Chicago idea, it didn't even occur to me since they're better ranked than NYU and I'm a long shot there IMO (but not in the opinion of my LSAT tutor, somehow).Crowing wrote:I have similar numbers (3.46/173) and my list is also fairly similar to yours; the main differences are my fallback option is the midwest and I have no interest in the west coast.
