Taiwanese Male 3.58/171 ED to Penn Chances??
Hello Fellow TLSers, I am in dire need for your collective wisdom.
I graduated this year from a t10 private school with a 3.58 and I got a 171 on the december LSAT.
I will not be taking the test again; studying for it was probably the worst experience of my life.
I am torn between Chicago and Penn. I will be EDing for sure to one of them, but which one should it be?
Chance me! Thanks!
I was thinking ED to Penn would be a more sure thing, but what do you guys think?
P.S. I don't care about the city atmosphere or campus atmosphere, please don't tell me to consider them. Strictly speaking, I am just interested in the numbers, which one I can get into for sure.

ED to Penn is more likely. I don't think you have Chicago ED.
Personally, I'd ED to NYU.

I thought it was funny how you phrased that.laptop_smith wrote:Hello Fellow TLSers, I am in dire need for your collective wisdom.

I think if you want to get something for sure, you should ED to Penn. Even with recent drop in applicants, 3.5/171 is kind of a reach for Chicago. I visited Penn two years ago and the campus was gorgeous, students were more friendly than at other T10's. Chicago probably has slightly better job prospects, but you'd have to do well at either one to be biglaw-secure. I'd take Penn based on QOL (from my perspective).

I would say that you are in at Penn ED. (http://myLSN.info/dispresults.php?sk=pw67f)
The three applications that got in at Penn do not include any URM. So those numbers disregard your bump.

Just to be clear, though, Taiwanese students don't receive any URM boost.
If you want CCN, you should retake. (Sorry, I don't care if it was a bad experience.) Otherwise, you should be in at Penn ED.

I got into Penn ED with a 3.55/170, and non-URM status (like yourself). Almost all of the people with similar stats as me who ED'ed to Penn got in (according to LSN).
I think Chicago's out of reach for you. You could ED NYU and you may get off the waitlist next summer (I think NYU took quite a lot of borderline applicants off the waitlist this summer), but then your shot at Penn would drop from near-certain to more like 40%.
Since your top choices are Penn and Chicago, I'd say ED to Penn and enjoy your acceptance next Christmas (make sure to do the supplementary essays though).

You should get into Penn ED. Chicago isn't going to happen unless late off of the WL, so I would do Penn and never look back. Ignore people who say ED NYU if you don't want to go to NYU.

Thanks guys for the reassurance...is there a conceivable difference in job prospects between CCN and Penn?
Of course, this is all considering one's relative rank, law review etc etc etc but generally speaking....say at a firm like cravath or skadden, is a degree from penn going to help or hurt in terms or competing with other kids?

For NYC V10s NYU has an advantage but across all market paying firms they are basically peers.
