177 / 3.9 literally no softs
Whenever someone posts "How important are softs?" or "Help! I'm only a star athlete who saves kittens in my free time"
everyone is like "Don't worry bro, you're good. Unless you've been doing nothing but playing video games for a year, ha ha ha."
Yeah...
I'm that worst-case softs scenario.
So what schools should I be looking at that absolutely, positively won't care that I've done nothing with my life?
Or, rather, what schools should I watch out for that will take a harsh stance against accepting me on the strength of my numbers?

Never a part time job? Club? Volunteer work? How is it possible to literally never do anything?

I actually know people like this. Their parents won't let them work cause they want them to concentrate on school, they suck at sports, and they basically just go to school, go home, study, and play XBoxtop30man wrote:Never a part time job? Plenty of gamers leave the house to do other things occasionally. Some even have jobs, or other hobbies.alalaw wrote:I take it you're not a gamertop30man wrote:Never a part time job? Club? Volunteer work? How is it possible to literally never do anything?

No doubt. I was not implying that All Gamers have No Life, I was suggesting that gamers might understand the temptation to get sucked into pointless time-wasting.rinkrat19 wrote:Plenty of gamers leave the house to do other things occasionally. Yeah, this.Tom Joad wrote:Except for your Harvard Law acceptance your life sounds shitty.
Though if you really want to clinch it just, ya know, get a job for a year.
ETA: Also, having a job of some kind at some point before becoming a big law lawyer working 60-80 hours a week is probably a good idea anyway. It'll be good for you.

yeah just have a good reason that you don't have any softs/that you're cool anyway and you're good. CCN and down won't care anyway. maybe chicago just bc they're random and WLed some high numbers this year (though not as high as yours mostly) but seriously you're golden.

It probably won't matter because your numbers are killer, but you will certainly stick out if you can't put anything on a resume that's not an academic award or something of that nature.

Re: 177 / 3.9 literally no softs
Actually, let me clarify. If you had to submit a resume, would it literally just be your contact info, your education, and then blank space? Like you couldn't even BS your way to 3/4 of a page with internships/clubs or something? I think Harvard might balk at that.
At worst, you're looking at NYU with $$, but think about how you're going to look at OCI. Even a solid percentage of Harvard students don't get good jobs, and I understand it's very hard to differentiate the mass below median. Do you really want to be the guy that literally can't put anything on a page from before LS?
Get a job, dude.

This is a great point. While I don't think firms are going to care so much that you weren't into volunteering in undergrad, they will certainly think twice before giving you your first job. You might benefit more than anyone from taking a year or so off to gain WE. At the very least it's something worth exploring.Elston Gunn wrote:Actually, let me clarify. With numbers like that you are good dude. All top3 are in play in my opinion (YHS) as long as you don't come across terribly in you PS. Then again, where you got the 3.9 could make a difference with these law schools. But I'm assuming it was a relatively top school if you killed the LSAT to that degree.
