Mixed AA female 3.54 GPA 175 LSAT
Additionally I come from an extremely disadvantaged background and have extensive community service/social justice work(some national campaigns). Very strong letters of rec. What are my chances for top tier schools? And what can I expect financial offers to look like?

And I think financial aid is need based at HY, maybe S too, but hopefully someone who is actually qualified to answer the fin aid part of the question chimes in.Ded Precedent wrote:bigdogmoe wrote:HYS

It is need based at all three.

Wow. I thought my GPA would sink me at HYS. I know I'll qualify for need based aid anywhere. I'm coming from a internationally known state school, will that matter when looking at my GPA? Plus I've had better semesters than others, but have worked the entire time I've been in school in social justice areas.
How much of my background should I include in the personal statement/addendum (family drug abuse, poverty, domestic violence, losing friends/family to street violence and escaping gang life). My story isn't that unique in my community(aside from the going to college part and managing to have no criminal record or children), but I am wondering if it will help me stand out in the application process? Especially because the conditions in my community/city have directly fueled my drive to go to law school.
If this question should be in another section just let me know, new to the board.

You have a chance anywhere. Specially with that test score. My advice is to ignore the webboard and start working on a compelling personal statement. You have the whole summer, congrats.

So do you like Boston quaintness or NorCal? Start thinking that over.
Just apply to the top 14 schools. Come back to us after Christmas with questions about do I take a near full ride at Northwestern or go to Harvard?

Your story might not be unique in your community, but it is unique among students who score 175 on the LSAT and have a 3.54 from an internationally known state school. Unique as in you might be the only one. If your financial background is as dire as you say then you'll presumably have fee waivers, so I'd apply to whichever T14 schools you think you'd like to go to, wait until you see what kind of need based aid you'll get from HYS, and then debate whether it's enough to give up the full scholarship you'll be offered at at least some of the other top schools you apply to.sunshine&rain wrote:Wow. not really gonna affect it, but you should still be fine. AA males with lower gpas and LSATs have gotten H. AA male is a little better than female, but you're still basically a lock at at least 1 or HYSsunshine&rain wrote:Wow. I thought my GPA would sink me at HYS. Forgot to comment on this. Make this paragraph 500 words (250 for Yale), explain the bolded, and you have your PS.sunshine&rain wrote:
