4.0 UGPA -- Help Me Fill in the Gaps
BG: Asian, Male, Junior at a top 20 undergraduate business program. 2 Majors, 1 Co Major, 2 Minors
Softs: I have leadership, research, an internship at a Big Four Firm for their technology consulting arm this summer, and working on a big volunteering gig (being the national collegiate director) starting the beginning of my senior year.
GPA: 4.00 UGPA / 4.09 LSDAS GPA
LSAT:I am taking the June cycle, and I am averaging high 160s/low 170's, but I will get a month of nothing but LSATing.
Can someone give me some LSAT benchmarks, ie what I would need for HYS, what I would need for CCN, or what I would need for T14?
Also, should I improve my softs / how can I improve them?

The higher your LSAT the better your chances. Check out the school enrollment medians and aim to beat those.

Right, of course...
I was hoping to get some comments about my softs.. whether they are sufficient or not, and possibly how that can factor into the LSAT targets.

Your softs are fairly standard. If you want to improve them somewhat then work for a year or two after school. But just focus on the LSAT.rbkl wrote:Right, of course...

Improve them enough to make a difference? I am fairly certain that I'll have the option to work full time at the big four firm as a consultant for 1-2 years.thisguy456 wrote:Your softs are fairly standard. Re: 4.0 UGPA -- Help Me Fill in the Gaps
average soft for admissions, probably won't make any difference. However, from what I hear, this is a good soft for OCI. With your GPA, the only thing holding you back from choosing where you go to law school is the LSAT. Get all the question correct on itrbkl wrote:Improve them enough to make a difference? I don't think it really matters, especially if you kill your LSAT. I don't want to sound like an old man, but there's a lot of other benefit to working for a year or two before law school, especially if you find this big four stuff interesting. It will help with big law hiring, you'll get a chance to save some bucks, and the break between school may keep you a bit more sane.rbkl wrote:Improve them enough to make a difference? Re: 4.0 UGPA -- Help Me Fill in the Gaps
165-166 for T14
169-170 for CCNS
172-173 for HY
Just a gut feeling, law school apps are plummeting so it might take less than that and I'm sure you can find random examples of someone who got in somewhere with less than those numbers but your softs don't blow me away or anything.
(Also didn't mean to slight Stanford by the above, they just dip lower into the LSAT pool than HY)

Re: 4.0 UGPA -- Help Me Fill in the Gaps
I've seen 4.0s with high 160s get into HYS (especially S, whose median is 170), but realistically you want at least a 170. 173+ virtually guarantees H. The exceptions (people who don't get into H despite great numbers) tend to be K-JDs, FYI. Getting work experience is a pretty solid idea. At HYS, being a little older helps with need-based aid calculations. Of course, you'll have income you wouldn't have as a K-JD working against your need calculation, but for most entry-level positions, your income won't be high enough to offset the benefits of being in a higher age bracket. Just something to consider if you get a score high enough for HYS and want to plan ahead.

LOL, my favorite part of TLS is when people come on here and make one of these threads thinking that their softs are awesome and unique.

Softs don't matter.
I am also finishing my 3rd year UG and will be taking the LSAT in October. I read so many different theories on "softs" and if they matter, don't matter. Let me ask this question- great personal statement vs. great softs? Does the personal statement count for much more?
