Hello all,
I studied management at one of top universities, and my gpa is 3.05.
But I went to CC for 2 years before I transferred to the university and got 3.89 from there.
Just simple calculation. My average gpa is 3.47 (I understand it may differ from actual LSAC's calculation)
Because I know that my gpa is not good, I am doing my best to get at least 165 and will try 170 above.
I would love to study for environmental law or human right law, so I am thinking top 40 law schools.
Do you think that I have a chance to get into top 40 law school? Is there any advice you can give?
Thank you so much

Study hard, do well on the test, and you'll get into top 40 schools. Do well enough and they'll give you $$$
Best of luck to you

Use LawSchoolPredictor's GPA Calculator to ballpark what LSDAS will calculate your GPA to be.

Your GPA will not keep you out of the top 40 but it is an irrelevant number. Outside the T-14 and a few other pseudo national schools, rank doesn't matter much. Wisconsin is a T-40 school but if you want to work in New Jersey, Rutgers is a MUCH better option regardless of its rank. Iowa is rated WAY above Ole Miss but if you are from Jackson MS and want to stay there Iowa will not help you at all..... You really don't want to go to the very best law school you can get into simply based on the rankings. You will want to go to the very best law school that you can get into that feeds the market where you want to work and hopefully where you have ties..... Oh, and you may want to go to a "lesser" school that still has a good rep in the area you want to work because it will cost a LOT less than a slightly more prestigious school. (Rutgers and Seton Hall being a good example if you wanted Jersey.....)
To answer your question, your GPA will not lock you out of a good school so long as you rock the LSAT.....

OP, any speculation anyone here makes is going to be very general. The difference between 165 and 170 is huge. It has a lot to do with whether you are below, at, or above the school's median LSAT, since you will likely be below the school's median GPA. If you are above at or above one median, you have a chance.
