Not a chance thread, just wondering where a 2.8/180..
Like the title says, I've been wondering all day if someone was to get a 180 LSAT with a 2.8 GPA where would that land him/her?
Would they still be locked out of the T14 because of the GPA? Would a T6 place an offer?
What do you guys think?

If you have to ask, you probably are not getting a 180splitter13 wrote:Like the title says, I've been wondering all day if someone was to get a 180 LSAT with a 2.8 GPA where would that land him/her?

T6 unlikely. T14's that don't take sub3's unlikely. T14's that do take sub3's (UVA/NU/GULC) likely.

Personally, I would think a 2.8/180 has an excellent shot at a T14.

He has approximately the opposite of an "excellent" shot. That is, he doesn't quite have no shot (that's if he gets this 180).CardozoLaw09 wrote:?Kabuo wrote:lolCardozoLaw09 wrote:Personally, I would think a 2.8/180 has an excellent shot at a T14.

I'm not saying I would get a 180. I said I was curious to know the chances of where someone that got a 180 and a 2.8.
I got a 168 LSAT, and trying to decide on whether to apply in fall after reading the law employment statistics.

What is your definition of "top school?" I was under the impression we were working with T14 based on his post, and there are only 3 that touch sub 3s there, and that is usually a crap-shoot or they have something else spectacular. Also, I didn't say he had no shot. I said he had a not good shot. You can't refute that with LSN.Corsair wrote: Tons of people get into top schools with 2.X / 17X every year. Basically, the guy above has no clue what he's talking about. In fact, I can barely find a record of a single student with a 176+ who didn't get in to SOMEWHERE in the T14.

Yes, well I personally know 3. So you've found 6 instances of sub 3s getting into T14 schools. That's still fewer than half this cycle, and definitely skewed to the top end of 17x, which is fine for OP, but different from what Corsair said.kckool7 wrote:http://lawschoolnumbers.com/mssplitter

Previous (my) cycle was bleaker. You can infer that with the drop in test takers, we'll be seeing more sub 3 17xs get in, and that is probably the best inference to make of that, but it won't necessarily be true then either. Anyway, this is all moot except for OP's academic interest now that we know he has a 168. Enjoy Wustl or Minn with money. Won't be going higher.

So, Dave Hall is looking to get out of the LSAT prep business?

If you're a 2.8 splitter, a 180 likely won't get you anything a mid-170s doesn't already get you. One possible exception is that a school might give you very slight bonus points because it wants to say its LSAT range includes a 180, but I've seen so few high-170s splitters that it's impossible to tell. The person on LSN with a 2.9/179 who got into NYU had other things going for her (iirc Ivy ug, legacy status at NYU).
As for T14, it's no guarantee but I like your chances at at least one of NU, GULC, and UVA.

An ED to UVA or GULC, especially if numbers continue to drop would be likely with a 2.8/180. Without an ED or WE though Kabuo is right that its probably on down to Minn or WUSTL.

Sigh. I only applied to one though. I got terrible advice before I applied. Wish I had found TLS a few months earlier. My own damn fault though for not doing more research on my own. That being said, low debt, low pressure, and perfect fit socially has been very, very nice.kckool7 wrote:http://lawschoolnumbers.com/mssplitter
