Unusual candidiate chances 3.57/175 LSAT
Hi everyone! I am a 39 year old MD, MBA. My undergrad grades from Emory were 3.57, MBA 3.83, LSAT 175. I am a board certified emergency medicine physician who is applying to law school. I understand the financial ramifications, but I am really just looking for opinions on Top tier schools like Harvard/Yale/etc.. I know my GPA is a bit low, but I have the MD/MBA as well. Does it make a difference or am I simply chucked out because of my gpa? Thanks for your thoughts.

The MD is a weird factor and hard to predict. I would guess that it gives you a boost, but not a huge one. I would guess you would do quite well at most of the T14, but YSH might be out, to be honest. But I would apply to them anyway, because you never know.

Re: Unusual candidiate chances 3.57/175 LSAT
I have been in EM (emergency medicine) for 22 years and had originally intended to apply to MD/JD programs. I enjoy law and find it interesting and useful in every facet of medicine, law, business, and politics. I understand the financial loss of returning to school, but as one gets older, experience and knowledge become paramount (at least with me)dkb17xzx wrote:Out of personal curiosity....why law school?

Are you wanting to use the law degree to go into some sort of medical law practice?

WOW!! I figured the initial review is a computer who simply eliminates GPA's lower than X, like med school. How can I "help" my application get "read"?? I think id someone see's it, they would at least consider me.
Amazing acceptances!!! Congrats!!

at top law schools, every application is read at least somewhat. Your gpa isn't going to get you eliminated anywhere automatically, anyway. Even Yale would take a cursory look at you simply because of your resumepepemaui wrote:hooma wrote:Posted this in your other thread

Spending far too much time on here, for one. Also from reading interviews with Deans of Admissions at most of the T10-14pepemaui wrote:Thats great! Haha, I wish this was my profile! Although I can't complain with the way my cycle has turned out. I found it on lawschoolnumbers.com (if you haven't checked it out already, do so).pepemaui wrote:hooma wrote:Posted this in your other thread

It seems credible to me but you could always private message them and ask. They may also have insight about maximizing your chances as a non-traditional applicant.pepemaui wrote:Do we think this profile "cravin jd" is real?? accepted everywhere except Berkley. hmmmm?hooma wrote:Haha, I wish this was my profile! Y = decent chance based on unusual qualifications. They seem to like that and be willing to take somewhat of a GPA hit for it.
H = ?
S = Out, GPA
Elsewhere - expect broad acceptances.

You've been in EM since you were 17? Or earlier, since you also have that MBA?pepemaui wrote:I have been in EM (emergency medicine) for 22 yearsdkb17xzx wrote:Out of personal curiosity....why law school?
