What are my chances at YSH?
3.6 GPA with an upward grade trend (2.4 first year then non stop 4.0s), 179 LSAT, a great letter of rec from a national congressman (who I volunteered for), another letter of rec from an English Professor who LOVES me, and I played club rugby for my junior and senior years. Also, all of this is from a state school. What are chances at YSH? Yale, Stanford, Harvard- not Yeshiva.

You might have to settle for a good scholly at MichiGONE, but even if you don't go to a T10 school, a winning attitude will take you farther than a YHS degree ever could.
Also, I am particularly jealous and bitter because I had 2 golden retrievers I loved and they died.

On the HYS end (for 2011), there's a 3.7+ gpa floor.
On the other hand, I think you have a really good chance/lock at CCN. Go for Harvard, too, just to see what happens. It's worth the application fee.

Yeah, it's better to have a staffer that knows you well write one. I did that and it was a great idea.EdgarWinter wrote:On the congressman thing--Does this Congressman know you? Do you address him as [first name] or as [Congressman _____]? How much contact did he actually have with you? Because if this is one of those things where you brought him donuts one time and his staffers wrote you a generic rec letter than it will look bad on your application. Adcomms know that congresspeople often don't know or give a shit about their interns/volunteers and that they have staffers who write stuff for them. It will come off as fake and condescending.GoldenRetriever1988 wrote:3.6 GPA with an upward grade trend (2.4 first year then non stop 4.0s), 179 LSAT, a great letter of rec from a national congressman (who I volunteered for), another letter of rec from an English Professor who LOVES me, and I played club rugby for my junior and senior years. YSH is not as aesthetically pleasing as HYS.
