160, 3.95 GPA, law firm experience- Thoughts?
Hello everyone! I took the February LSAT and just received my score- 160. I have a 3.95 GPA, double major with two minors, very active on campus. I've worked at a law office for the past three years during breaks as well. I'm graduating this May, taking a year off and applying ED this fall for admission in fall of 2013. Any thoughts on my options? Any input would be appreciated!

If you're taking a year off anyways, everyone will tell you to retake. A 3.95 is a gpa many of us envy. Don't waste it on a 160. (I had a 160. I'm not mocking it at all. But I didn't have a 3.95.) You have a good shot at HYS if you improve your LSAT.ejs04100 wrote:Hello everyone! I took the February LSAT and just received my score- 160. Study your ass off and retake. There's no downside and the benefits could be enormous.

obv have to retake despite potential agony. also drop the two minors if you need more time to study. and possibly the second major.

That seems silly. This person has all summer to study for the October test. If you don't end up doing law school, one of those majors might be useful for an alternate career path.FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:obv have to retake despite potential agony. also drop the two minors if you need more time to study. and possibly the second major.

I send in your official transcript to LSAC right now, so that you 3.95 stays at 3.95 and then you can cruise the rest of the way for college.
I assume that he can do this, right? This is essentially what I did before my senior spring semester, but I was applying to law schools to attend in the fall. Might be different if you're taking a year off.
Just make sure your GPA stays up right now and doesn't drop below like 3.85. That's your biggest asset. Then worry about LSAT in the summer.

Thanks for all of the responses! I am planning on moving to Thailand to teach English for a year, which is why I didn't want to retake. I'm leaving in the very beginning of October so that definitely complicates retaking. I definitely won't drop my double major or minors since I only have a couple months left of school- I'll just push through. If I take the October LSAT, can I still apply ED?

ED to UVa (if you don't significantly improve LSAT).

You can take it overseas. I'm sure Thailand has a test administration.ejs04100 wrote:Thanks for all of the responses! Yes, the October test is out in time to ED. But if you improve your test score, you may no longer want to limit yourself the way ED-ing does.

I took it overseas while teaching English and it was a great decision. It's such a low stress job that you can devote plenty of time to studying and still have tons of free time so that you don't feel like it's taken over your life. Plus, at least in my case, the administration was at 2:00 in the afternoon no matter which month you took it in.

cut back your schedule and get that LSAT up. Don't waste that GPA on a low LSAT score.ejs04100 wrote:Hello everyone! I took the February LSAT and just received my score- 160.
