3.73 Undergrad GPA at JMU--What LSAT to Get Into T14 Schools
I had a 3.73 GPA at JMU, a state school in VA comparable to George Mason undergrad. I am starting to study for my LSAT now.
My dream schools would be NYU or Columbia. What LSAT do you guys think I'd need to get into these? What about to get into other top schools, like U Penn, or the weaker T14's, like Georgetown or Cornell?
Thanks in advance! My goal is 170 and up. I definitely think this is doable, but time will tell. Planning on taking the LSAT in June, and then retaking if I don't reach at least my goal. I really want to go to school in NYC, if you can't tell.

You'll need at least that 170 for NYU:

Thanks for the quick response. Ideally it'd be a 172, but I'm aware the LSAT is very hard and very hard to predict, so I was being a bit conservative.travman90 wrote:You'll need at least that 170 for NYU:

I figured, you're starting earlier enough that it shouldn't be a huge problem. I started at a 150 in June and by October test (4 months) I jumped over 20 points so its totally doable, you have a little less time before June, but hopefully you can make it work.

Fellow JMU student I'm into the "weaker" T14, Gtown and Cornell with a 169 and a lower GPA shot me a message if you want a fellow duke point of view

For some reason I don't want to go to UVA that much. It'd be one of my last choices for the T14's, other than maybe Duke or something. There's something about the student culture there that I just don't fit in with, but I'd definitely go there over any non-T14's.

You would need to break 170. You would have a chance if you EDed to Penn with a 168-169, but you should shoot for a 170.

Good to know. 170 is definitely my goal. My ultimate goals are Columbia (a bit of a reach) and NYU, but if not those, U Penn would definitely be another great option. My goal upon graduating is Big Law.
