Retake? Forum

I pt'd in the 167-169 range but scored a 164 last June. My GPA is a 3.56 (might be a little higher after this semester). Is it worth retaking? I want to go into private equity and don't really have a preference about where I want to live after law school. Would a 167 or a 168 get me any money at Fordham or Illinois, or give me an outside shot at the back-end of the T14?

Pretty much the same GPA and I have a 169 I got 20,000 a year at Fordham and still waiting on Georgetown (got an alumni interview) and Cornell also got into Vandy

So I would say retake for sure and try to get a 170, because I really wish I had that extra point

If I retook the test in June and scored lower than my 1st score, would it have any effect on the schools that I've already been accepted to?

I don't think you necessarily underperformed based on your practice tests. However, you only get to do the law school thing one time. I say retake and prosper.

Right, I don't think I underperformed as most people drop a few points on test day. I'm just not sure if I can improve a good 4-5 points in the next 4 months, and even if I did, would it be worth waiting a year to reapply.

Why are you going to law school? You can do this with a bachelor's, but more likely shot if you go to b-school than LS.

Go to b-school...unless you have some connection to get you into private equity I don't see law school helping you (especially from Illinois or Fordham). Those are fine schools but people who tend to get into sought after alternative careers attend T14 schools (unless of course you have some connection)

Curious, how do you plan to get into PE from law school?
