Vandy, Boalt, Duke
I'm waiting on Vandy, Berkeley, and Duke. My app strongly indicates environmental law, and here is my info:
Undergrad institution: MIT
GPA: 3.4/4, but 3.8/4 since Junior year (good grade trend)
LSAT: 167
Fresh out of college. Have been doing research in college, as well as leadership positions in my fraternity and captain of varsity soccer team
My major is PoliSci, but my minor is in Energy, so I have a technical background in Energy
What are my chances with Vanderbilt, Berkeley, and Duke?

Ok. I don't plan on re-taking because I've been accepted to a decent school. The reason I posted here actually is because according to the admissions chances calculations (based on LSAT and GPA), the school I've gotten into I would theoretically have a 25% chance of getting into, and I got in with scholarship offers. The question now is would I rather go to one of those other schools with no $ (assuming I get in, which is unlikely, but so was the school that accepted me).YourCaptain wrote:no chance.

So I'm thinking there may be other factors (grade trend, institution attended) not taken into account in the #s calculations that may improve my chances somewhat

if youre an under-represented-minority, you have a shot.
otherwise, you wont have to make this decision because it wont happen.

Chances are low. A scholarship to USC does not mean you will get into Duke/Berkeley. I think you have a slim chance at Vandy, but out at the other two. If I was wrong about USC, and it was UCLA that gave you the scholly, it sounds like you lucked out.

I think the OP was referring to William & Mary ...sach1282 wrote:Chances are low. A scholarship to USC does not mean you will get into Duke/Berkeley. Who knew that MIT has a varsity soccer team?
OP - you are probably pretty smart. Your GPA is hurting you. I don't know if you get a boost because of going to MIT - if you do, it will not as much as you might think you deserve. Law school admission is almost solely numbers based. What has your pre-law advisor suggested?
You should retake, you should be able to do better on the LSAT. You should go to the best school you can get into.
