3.73 gpa 3 time lsat take with highest at 154
Extracurriculars: Internship at Assemblyman Office, Circle K Organization, Pre-Law Society
Studied Abroad at Cambridge University Pembroke College
UC Irvine Political Science grad
Tier 1 is never a great chance with these scores but I hope I can get into a school within the top 100 ranging from around 40-90

I am from Los Angeles, CA and I would like a California School in those rankings, but the East Coast would be great as well.

I have a 155 LSAT and am anticipating being able to get into Temple, which is a Tier 2 school ranked currently at #72. Their median LSAT is 161. I think you should have a decent chance at a school in the 40-90 range. Good luck!PrinceKasra wrote:Extracurriculars: Internship at Assemblyman Office, Circle K Organization, Pre-Law Society

You'd stand a chance at a place like Chapman which is right around T100, same with Pacific and USF (though not in LA, still in California). Santa Clara would be slightly harder, but still definitely worth an app, is its ranked higher and moving up, with good local employment prospects.
If you wouldn't mind moving East, you might take a shot at schools like Maryland or Seton Hall. A school like Northeastern could very well accept you, and even Miami or Catholic would be possible. Michigan State, WVU, and Syracuse are all schools which would likely take you as well!
Don't let people here discourage you. Though your options aren't the best, you have plenty of them. Do some research into what type of law you might want to practice, but more importantly, where you can see yourself settling down.
Good luck!

You can't get into a CA school worth going to in this economy. Retake or don't go.

I hope I can have a chance at Penn State. I hate to think that one wrong deduction on a game cost me the lsat range for many second tier schools. It is so frustrating and it was my 3rd time taking the test. I hope law school admissions can see through that.

Grizz's advice may sound harsh, but it's TCR. LA and Southern California market in general is so saturated- T14 grads w/ ties, UCLA/USC, UCI, Loyola/Pepperdine, and San Diego grads will almost assuredly find jobs over grads from schools like Chapman. It's not wise to invest so much money and time into a degree only to struggle finding a job that requires a JD. Personally, OP, I'd wait until you can retake and invest everything into it. Good luck!

People hate on statements like these, but they need to be said. Grizz is providing a valuable service; no one who makes a thread like this can claim ignorance when they are 27 with a JD, 150k in debt, and no hopes of getting a legal job.princeR wrote:Dude, you always give advice like this, just makes you seem like a prick.Grizz wrote:You can't get into a CA school worth going to in this economy. Although you have a low LSAT, i think your GPA will get you into most T2 schools. You probably don't have a shot at a Pepperdine, Loyola, or USD. you'll likely get waitlisted at Santa Clara, but still have a good chance of getting accepted. USF, Chapman, and Pacific will likely accept you.
There are a number of schools outside of CA that you have a godo shot at and probably offer better opportunities after school than those CA schools. You should shoot out an application to Kent, Lewis and Clark, Miami, Temple, American, and other similar schools.
Good luck!

You know what is funny? It is hilarious having you guys treat my numbers like I have no chance at a tier 1. I just got waitlisted at a top 30 school with my horrible 154 score. Have a nice day

Re: 3.73 gpa 3 time lsat take with highest at 154
There are some schools that waitlist practically everybody they don't admit off the bat. A waitlist is still failure, it's just failure with a potential for success later on (that potential is usually somewhere between small and infinitesimally small). Have a nice day too. Oh, and paying full tuition for a top thirty school is usually a bad idea.PrinceKasra wrote:You know what is funny? It is hilarious having you guys treat my numbers like I have no chance at a tier 1. Well the replies weren't surprising since you originally said you wanted CA or east coast.
If you'd said "is there any law school ranked above X in the whole big country that might take me?" , you probably would have gotten different replies.
But, hey, feel free to continue to think you proved everyone wrong even though, you know...you didn't.
Buy snowboots and thermal underwear, wisconsin is freaking freezing in February. (my inlaws live there.)

it is sad to me that many very smart people are not good test takers thus they do poorly on the LSAT. A word to the wise-Three of my friends are partners in law firms and they went to American University, U of Maryland, and Syracuse respectively, though one got an LLM in Taxation from GTown.

Going to Wisconsin when one apparently has a preference for (and ties to) the West Coast seems especially likely to turn out bad.bruss wrote:Going anywhere that isn't HYS could turn out bad.Helmholtz wrote:There is no way this is going to turn out bad.PrinceKasra wrote:Accepted at University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Law! Three people who went to decent, but not great, law schools are Partners At Law firms? You don't say!
