3.84/ 166
Hi everyone- so I've applied to a bunch of schools but wanted thoughts on Georgetown, george Washington, NYU, Fordham, and Cardozo. 3.84 and 166. I have a good ps, resume, and recs. Any chance at all for the elite schools? Any chance for money at Cardozo? Thanks!

You probably have at least a small shot at Gtown, a good shot at GW and Fordham, and probably out at NYU. I got 23K a year from Cardozo with a 3.3, 167 so I think you're good for a full ride there.

Interesting choices. Why not Cornell if you're looking for NYC? Why not ED UVA? You have a shot at both (well, maybe not UVA -- I can't recall their GPA median), and those are exponentially better than your most realistic options of GW, Fordham, and Cardozo.Snake90 wrote:Hi everyone- so I've applied to a bunch of schools but wanted thoughts on Georgetown, george Washington, NYU, Fordham, and Cardozo. 3.84 and 166. Number twin. Last cycle i got into ND, WUSTL, BU, BC, Cornell, Minnesota, wait-listed at Vandy, Michigan and UCLA and rejected from G'Town and Northwestern. I think if you play your apps right, you have a decent shot at Cornell, G'Town and possibly Duke and UVA.

Re: 3.84/ 166
Thanks for the responses guys-
So I actually applied to a bunch of places but just asked for those places because they represent a fair overview rankings wise of where I applied too and I didn't want to be too overwhelming.
I also applied to Columbia (ED), Penn, Michigan, Berkley, UCLA, USC, BC, BU, and Emory. I know its not particularly likely, but there are always a couple of people with my stats who get in! (right?)
Good news today though: In at GW! 1 for 1 haha

I think you're both aiming too high and too low. Many of the T14s you mentioned are out of the picture, and I hope you aren't seriously considering GW and Cardozo. Your numbers are too good for those shitholes.

Well if I want to work in NYC, I think Cardozo is a fair option if I get a scholarship to attend. GW is also # 20, hardly a shit hole.

In an overcrowded market where you'll have a tough going at finding work.Snake90 wrote:Well if I want to work in NYC, I think Cardozo is a fair option if I get a scholarship to attend. GW is also # 20, hardly a shit hole.

I'm at a loss. Is there a major difference between a 3.84 and 3.81? I have the same LSAT and was waitlisted at GW. Now i'm worried for other schools: Fordham, BC, BU, etc.

Re: 3.84/ 166
Stupidly enough, there is a difference. GW's medians are 167 and 3.82. Therefore, OP is above one median while you are below both medians. Being below both medians is generally a ticket for a drop in chances for admission. Just further shows how much law schools are numbers whores.HolyMoley wrote:I'm at a loss. That being said, if you push hard off the waitlist, you're going to get in pretty easily because of the GPA. You also still have a good shot at BC, BU and Fordham because IIRC they all have GPA medians below your GPA.

Re: 3.84/ 166
I agree schools are numbers whores but not that being .01 below the median hurt the application. Like, even if their gpa drops by .01, the USNWR calculation is completely negligible from 3.82.law4vus wrote:Stupidly enough, there is a difference. GW's medians are 167 and 3.82. For someone with your numbers, Cardozo and similarly ranked schools would be a poor life choice. Yes, it is good to balance cost and rank. No, it is not good to go to a school where you need to be top 10% in order to have decent job prospects. You can do better.

Re: 3.84/ 166
Hi everyone-
Thanks for all the help. So I have a big decision to make. While I haven't heard back from everywhere, I have gotten accepted to both UCLA and GTown and think the higher ranked schools I applied to (NYU, Penn, Michigan, and Berkeley) are probably a stretch. So I think my decision will come to UCLA and GTown.
Gtown is t-14, but UCLA is right there. I'm from L.A. so its very realistic for me to want to work there, but I'm very open on working in other job markets as well. Any advice on the decision to make? Do people really think its T-14 or nothing if the other choice is UCLA?
Many thanks.

I would go to UCLA if you want to work in LA. Georgetown and UCLA are very close in rank, so the regional differences play a big factor.Snake90 wrote:Hi everyone-
