168 3.5 Veteran URM
Hey all, this is my first post on TLS, and from what I can see this site seems very helpful. Anyway, a little about me:
3.6 gpa
168 LSAT
3.5 years enlisted military service after graduating undergrad with deployment to Afghanistan
married with two kids
I want to focus on international law if I can, which will play a small role in my decision.
My list of schools currently are:
Michigan
Virginia
Duke
Cornell
Vanderbilt
Georgetown
Notre Dame
University of Washington
So, what do you all think my chances are?
Thanks for the help.

Forgot to say I'm a Hispanic URM, if that makes a difference.

I think you have a good chance at all of those schools you listed, but only if you're MA or PR hispanic. Otherwise, the URM boost isn't high, if given at all.

I'm an MA URM, so I guess I should be good. Can I expect any money from these schools, or is that a reach?

You'll probably get significant money at the lower end of your list, but I wouldn't be surprised if you get at least something from Mich. You're going to get into some great schools, so good luck! Apply soon though so you don't put yourself at a disadvantage regarding spot availability.jbel4 wrote:I'm an MA URM, so I guess I should be good. Also thank you for your service.

Also just to add, unless you're a VA resident it will be hard to get into UVA without ED. That's just one of their admissions quirks because they reserve a huge amount of space for VA residents.

Should be OK at Cornell. I had similar numbers to you, with different, and probably less impressive softs, and no URM. Apply early.

I honestly think OP should shoot higher. Even HYS are worth the app, given the military service. The GPA may be too low for Y and S but Harvard may bite. Should also apply to CCN as well.

Yeah aim high man. Between your numbers, URM status, and service, I think you'll get into CCN and have a fighting chance at HYS.

Wow, HYS or CCN would be amazing. You're right, might as well throw the app in and see what happens. My wife would go crazy (with joy) if I got into one of those. Thanks for the advice all.
