Is UNC splitter friendly? 2.5-2.6, 168
Do I have a fighting chance at UNC?

UNC is about average towards splitters, but they don't seem to have a GPA floor. If you're a NC resident, you have a good shot. If not, you may want to consider other, more splitter-friendly and less residency-focused schools in the SE, like UGA, W&L, George Mason, Wake Forest.SplitHappy1 wrote:Do I have a fighting chance at UNC?

FWIW, based on LSN I don't like your chances
Last year:
168, 2.9 WL
167, 2.75 URM WL
167, 3.06 just flat out rejected
etc...
edit: O and the lowest GPA to get in was a 2.9 who had a 170 and got in off the WL
So I'd be pretty shocked if you got in

It's hard to say, because there's very little data on LSN, but there seems to be a big difference between 167 and 168 at UNC. OP will probably get waitlisted, but with a good LOCI could make it happen.

a 170 2.9 was WL... I don't see how a 2.5 168 gets inSamara wrote:It's hard to say, because there's very little data on LSN, but there seems to be a big difference between 167 and 168 at UNC. OP will probably get waitlisted, but with a good LOCI could make it happen.

First of all, I said WL is the most likely result and once you're on the waitlist, a good LOCI strategy can make a big difference. Also, as I mentioned, the sample sizes are very small, so it's hard to say with any certainty. There could be people with OP's numbers who got in but aren't on LSN. When the applicant pool is so underrepresented, I try to avoid blanket statements.ThreeRivers wrote:a 170 2.9 was WL... Most important factor w/respect to being admitted to UNC is being a NC resident.

Yea, I have a 3.3/170 with residency and I'm still kinda losing my shit. Been stressing over my PS for a few months now.

OP, are you in-state? Probably a WL if you are, probably reject if you aren't.

Why do you want to go to UNC? Your numbers could get you into better places, so just curious.Bashy wrote:ThreeRivers wrote:Idk, I'm honestly not that confident with a 3.44 / 167 at unc

3.3/170 with residency at UNC? You sound like a lock to me.Bashy wrote:ThreeRivers wrote:Idk, I'm honestly not that confident with a 3.44 / 167 at unc

This except my GPA is even suckier. I was not banking on UNC at all this cycle. Fortunately, I've already gotten better acceptances. But, a 170 and NC resident doesn't even seem like a lock there.

Yep. They're reverse-splitter friendly. My first lsat of 156 got me waitlist-accepted with a 4.0.The Valkyrie wrote:Unc loves high gpas. They are like boalt in that way. I am a unc undergrad, in state, and I got flat out rejected with a 3.1 169

I've been in NC my entire life, I'd like to stay here to practice/raise children. I think UNC would help me develop contacts in NC better than a higher-ranked school up north. Also, I'm pretty debt-averse and UNC's low tuition is pretty tough to beat.whitman wrote:Why do you want to go to UNC? They let in a 2.6 three years ago, but that was with a 175. Looks like an almost definite no
