I have a 173 on a retake and a 3.5x gpa. Really want to stay in NY. Where would it be smarter to ED, Columbia or NYU? What are my chances without ED?

Do I have a chance with an ED to Columbia? The LSN sample is very small for people with numbers similar to mine. What would you do?

I would visit both Campi and decide which you like better or flip a coin because they are totally and completely the same in every respect when it comes to admissions. No one knows if one is more lenient with ED than the other.

Even though the sample is small on LSN, it looks like the same people had better luck at NYU than Columbia. It also seems that most of them were RD. If you can, go visit both schools, see which one you prefer.

Thanks guys. I visited and liked both schools equally, just hoping they like me back. Also hoping that a decrease in applications helps.

I've heard this many many times. Enough to believe it. What I wonder, then, is why you wouldn't just go with the better name? If they are exactly the same, I'd totally take the lay prestige.

NYU is almost guaranteed. If you want the guarantee, go NYU.
