I don't know anything about the effect of ED at these schools, but I suppose what matters most here is where you'd rather end up. Also, why ED? Is money no object?

money no object (thankfully)
honestly the chicago and san francisco markets sound equally appealing, which is why I've come for more knowledgeable opinions

Well, I don't know anything about San Francisco, but as a Midwestern I was really interested in ending up in Chicago - but the Chicago legal market seemed to take a harder hit in the recession/is recovering more slowly. If that means anything.

I have no idea about hastings but to UIUC, I wouldn't ED. Your LSAT could get you money at UIUC and ED takes that away. fwiw, I know people with similar numbers who have sizeable schollys. Particularly with the scandal at UIUC, they'll really want that median LSAT to go up.

I'm a 1L at hastings if you have any questions about it. I didn't ED though and I don't know anyone who did. Hastings seems to like higher GPAs, but on the other hand, the median LSAT took a real nose dive this year so maybe they'll want your LSAT. Either way you have a pretty good chance of getting in.

about the tenderloin - it really depends on what you mean by that bad. if you've never been to a city before or lived in one, i could see it as being that bad for someone. there are a lot of homeless people and drug addicts in the area to be fair. but, it doesn't bother me at all. the other side to this is that there are tons of community organizations where you can volunteer during the year. also, because it isn't a great neighborhood, there are tons of options for cheap and delicious food nearby. finally, one part of the neighborhood is sketchy, but we are literally one block away from the federal and state courts. my legal writing professor took us all to meet a court of appeal justice last week just for fun because it's so nearby.littlepanda wrote:thanks for the responses guys, ill probably just RD to both

the public transportation to school is great. it's in the center of the city so you can pretty much get there from anywhere else in the city.
and yeah, i'd suggest RD, you'll probably get in, or at least get WL'd.
