3.96/167 Cornell?
So I got my October LSAT back, and I wasn't really happy with it. I had been PTing around 175-178 before the test, but on test day, I just froze up, so I ended up with a 167. I'm going to retake in December to get a higher score to apply to UChicago (my top choice), but I really like Cornell, too, so I was thinking about applying there EA with my current score. I have a 3.96 GPA. What do you think my chances would be? I've looked at lsn, but I'd really like to get a bit more input.
Thanks in advance!

Cornell....meh.
It's good that you've decided to retake. Might want to put in your apps now though so you save a few days on processing time when you get your new score in.

Cornell's pretty safe with that combo. Even with the LSAT, I'd be surprised if you didn't get a bite from MVP.

In at Cornell. You should get one (or two) of MVP; likely M or V. If you're not in to a T10 by late in the cycle, switch to ED at UVA and you're in.

You're in at Cornell. Be mindful of the late apps if you decide to retake.FidusAchates wrote:So I got my October LSAT back, and I wasn't really happy with it. I have a 3.96 GPA, double major in history and classical languages. My softs aren't amazing (honors program, dean's list, a few honors societies, university research paper award, a semester of work experience as a research assistant).
What do you think of my chances? I've looked at lsn, but I'd really like to get a bit more input.

Re: 3.96/167 Cornell?
I'm in a situation where this applies as well. I'm waiting for my October score (currently on hold) and have a 3.91 GPA, and figure I'll score somewhere between 164-168. I really don't feel I've topped out on my LSAT, and think that a 170 is a reasonable goal for December, having started studying again a couple of weeks ago. That being said, however, what's to say that I don't improve my score, and I'm stuck with a 165 applying in January? I'm really trying to weigh the risk of not applying until then. Would it be better to apply (scholarship money being a very serious consideration as well) now with a 165, or wait until January when I'll (hopefully) have a good 3-4 point increase?

Apply to Stanford and then MVP on down (including Boalt). You have an outside chance at Stanford and I wouldn't give that up. You are above their 75 in GPA and at the 25 in LSAT.
