Extreme splitter could use some help (3.2/179)
Really need some help, I was a bit of a slacker my first two years in UG, took about 8 months off to work, and finally got my GPA up from the sub 2.5 range. I am compiling a list of schools to which I will apply for next cycle and would like some direction. Am I completely shut out of the T14?

You and I have [had] very very similar numbers; apply from CCN-T25, maybe ED to NYU/UVA if you like.
Write very targeted "Why X" letters for schools that want them.

Can anyone else with comparable numbers chime in/trade me a couple tenths of a GPA for a couple points of my LSAT?

Definitely in at the T-14....I just don't know where.
On the other hand, you'd be guaranteed a full ride somewhere close to the T25 with a 179 and 3.2 (I'd think).
UVA is probably an in, but you should ED to lock it. NYU may be a bit harder. A 3.3/180 and a 3.2/179 aren't quite the same.
Was your WE decent or did you bag at a supermarket?

I worked for a publicly traded construction company in the cost control department. 60 hour weeks, it was real deal.LawSchoolChampion wrote:Definitely in at the T-14....I just don't know where.

Try Northwestern.
You're a lock for them IF they consider your WE actual WE.
I don't know if they will being that it was in the middle of your academic career - if they do, definitely in.

Good to know so it seems I'll be tossing apps at VNCG, Fordham and a couple other T30 safeties.LawSchoolChampion wrote:Try Northwestern.

You have a 160+ verbal IQ and somehow managed to get a 3.2 in undergrad... Were you just high 24/7?

Re: Extreme splitter could use some help (3.2/179)
I had a real difficulty making friends and relating to people the first couple years of college. I ended up traveling back to my neighborhood in NYC filled with my derelict friends almost every weekend, never really went to class and when you're an engineering major that can be difficult. I finally came to the realization that I was an affable person fully capable of making friends at college I just never gave it a chance. So I got involved at school.vulpixie wrote:You have a 160+ verbal IQ and somehow managed to get a 3.2 in undergrad... Were you just high 24/7?

Yes, basically a lock at NU if they consider that WE. Not to denigrate your WE, but I think they only consider post-UG WE. It's a little fuzzy though, especially since you did it while you weren't in school.Strange wrote:He's a lock? Are you sure?LawSchoolChampion wrote:Try Northwestern.

3.2/179 and 3.3/179 are pretty much the same. I would throw an app to all of the T14 except Y, S, and B (Duke is probably also out). NYU or Columbia is probably your best at T6, so I'd ED there if you want a little boost and those are top choice schools. You'll get in at a few of the lower T14s, UVa and GULC are your best bets. Apply to a couple ~T30s in your preferred region as safeties. 3.2 isn't that bad, you should end up somewhere good.

yeah, the only sub 3.25 last year was a URM and there were only two between 3.25 and 3.3LawSchoolChampion wrote:Definitely in at the T-14....I just don't know where.

According to that thread my GPA is below all of the T-14's threshold. Will my near perfect LSAT be enough to break through the floor?

Look at the GPA floors, dood. And remember that no GPA floor is perfectly hard.
