Re: 3.99/165
Northwestern is in play. I got in with roughly the same numbers.

I mean, those are some impressive softs, for sure, but I think military experience, people who started their own nonprofits, and Peace Corps volunteers probably all have a leg up on most of this person's softs. The Rhodes could be a major thing, but besides that, I don't think any of these are necessarily game changers.buckilaw wrote:Normally I would never say this... But if you were to apply to Boalt you would probably get in. With a 169-170 you might be set at Stanford. Your softs might be the best I've ever seen on this site. You should really retake so you have a good chance at Harvard or Yale.

I think he was trying to indicate that it wasn't particularly humorous because your statement wasn't valid to begin with.locke42 wrote:a little logic humorJamMasterJ wrote:lolwut?locke42 wrote:you're just mad because you don't know the difference between validity and soundnessJamMasterJ wrote: poor logic is poor.

Re: 3.99/165
Thanks for all the help. I'm planning to retake in December and apply ED nowhere. Ideally I will pursue a degree in the UK before entering law school, but if not (and considering how late I will have to apply in the cycle) what are my options with a modest LSAT increase? Any shot at Northwestern JD/LLM in International Human Rights Law; might the relevance of my undergraduate curriculum and work experience help?
Thanks!
Thanks!

1. NW wants post-grad work experience, which you don't have unfortunately.weye wrote:Thanks for all the help. I'm planning to retake in December and apply ED nowhere. Yes, but I don't think that graduate school in the UK counts as work experience. Rhodes would be a stellar soft but I think you might fare better at other schools with that GPA/soft combo (thinking Berkeley, maybe even Stanford).weye wrote:Thanks for all the help. Re: 3.99/165
So I found out a few days ago that I am a finalist for the Rhodes in my district (this means I am one of twelve finalists in 4 states). Is this a significant change in my softs? And how late can I apply to UVA ED and count on an admit?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: 3.99/165
I really believe you would regret the decision to ED to UVA at this point. Why are you in such a rush for law school? You are a finalist for Rhodes, and I would assume could find a job at an impressive NGO if you don't get it. Take a year, re-take the LSAT, and apply next Fall. Your experience will help you both in admissions and in future employment.

If you really want to work for an international NGO, you need to take time off before school and get work experience with an international NGO. This is of the utmost importance. Do NOT ED UVA right now.weye wrote:So I found out a few days ago that I am a finalist for the Rhodes in my district (this means I am one of twelve finalists in 4 states).
