3.23/165 (retaking in October)
Praying for a 170 in October, but who knows (my chief problem with the LSAT has been nerves -- flawless LG sections in practice, then missing 7 on the real thing)?
At this point, my list looks like:
W&M (in-state)
George Mason
American
Wisconsin
Emory (my partner is from Atlanta, so I think that gives me ties there, though I know a 165 isn't going to get me in)
UGA or GSU
Colorado
New Mexico
Beyond that, I'm not really sure where to look. Girlfriend and I are looking for a place that isn't in a huge city, isn't super cold, somewhere that she could get certified to teach/find a teaching job (high school math). We currently live in Charlottesville, VA and LOVE it here, but unless I kill the LSAT, I don't have a prayer at UVA. Anybody have any other ideas?
(I should probably mention that I want PI, not any kind of firm work. Ideally, I'd like to work either as a prosecutor or in civil right, specifically for LGBT people.)

Good luck on the retake! That's a pretty good list. I would add Wake Forest, unless Winston-Salem is a big city for you. With your current stats, these are my predictions:
W&M - out
GMU - in
American - in
Wisconsin (this isn't super cold?) - WL
Emory - out
UGA - in if practices of last cycle are repeated, otherwise WL
GSU - in
Colorado - WL
UNM - in (very little data here, but I would seriously doubt a WL or reject here)
If you get that 170, you'll have a much different list.

Your numbers are really similar to mine, but I'm retaking in December with the intention of applying really early in the next cycle.
If I were you, I would add Washington & Lee.

W&L is almost certainly WL, out. They're splitter friendly, but their median is 166. With a 165, that's going to be tough.lhess218 wrote:Your numbers are really similar to mine, but I'm retaking in December with the intention of applying really early in the next cycle.

I thought they were retaking in October? Assuming they do better than 166, I still think they'd have a fairly good chance.
OP, have you considered going for a quick jog before PTing (and by extension, the exam)? It might help.

Sure, if they score higher, they're in, but if they score higher, I think they should create a whole new list depending on how much better they do.lhess218 wrote:I thought they were retaking in October? Assuming they do better than 166, I still think they'd have a fairly good chance.

Valid point. As a reference, what would be a list to consider with a 170+ and instate residency?

With Virginia residency and a 3.23/170+? I would start with:lhess218 wrote:Valid point. As a reference, what would be a list to consider with a 170+ and instate residency?
UVa
Northwestern (if you have WE)
Michigan
Cornell
Georgetown
WUSTL
GWU
UIUC
It depends a lot on where you want to practice and other factors.

Re: 3.23/165 (retaking in October)
I had a barely sub3.2 and a 166.
I got WL and W&M and eventually denied (though I made no efforts to off of it, though I hear their WL is generally quite largee)
I got 10k/yr and Emory

Re: 3.23/165 (retaking in October)
I applied last cycle and had a 3.35 and a 165, so my numbers were similar to yours (hopefully you get that LSAT up though!) I didn't apply to a lot of those schools (I didn't want to be in the south), but I would say to add more safeties. American is a safety for you number wise, but they also know that and they are a known YP school. I was accepted, but I saw a lot of people with similar numbers who were wait listed. I wouldn't really depend on them.
