How much will a bad freshman year impact me?
As the title says, how much will a bad freshman year at a decent UC will impact me for T-14 (excluding HYS seeing as how I've basically given up on those)? Basically I messed up my freshman year in college and ended up with a GPA totaling around a measly 2.4. However, after that you can see a drastic upwards trend during my sophomore and juniors year after I transfered majors, got serious, etc. So basically my overall GPA is somewhere near a 3.4ish. Assuming I get near a 173 (yes I know, Assuming), on the LSAT, does my freshman year still screw me over for T-14?
I know I messed up hardcore, but I'm wondering how much it'll impact me.
thanks guys!

Nope, the 3.4x is what matters.qazws12 wrote:As the title says, how much will a bad freshman year at a decent UC will impact me for T-14 (excluding HYS seeing as how I've basically given up on those)? One should never assume a ~173. As unfortunate as it may sound, your GPA will almost exclusively be viewed as a ~3.4. The good news is that a ~3.4 GPA is still a relatively decent GPA. As you said, your out at HYS. Assuming a 173, out/waitlisted at CCN. The middle of the T14 are a bit of a tossup as it will really depend on each school individually. In at some of the lower T14 such as Georgetown/Cornell.qazws12 wrote:As the title says, how much will a bad freshman year at a decent UC will impact me for T-14 (excluding HYS seeing as how I've basically given up on those)? Your GPA will be viewed as 3.4, so out for HYS and likely out for CCN as above poster said. You're below the median and 25$ GPA for pretty much all the top 14 schools, so it depends what your LSAT score is. Unfortunately, you never know how you will actually perform on test day. You can't really predict it since there may be factors like test day stress, etc. FWIW most people perform a couple points BELOW their LSAT PT average.
You'll be a splitter so check some of the threads on good schools for splitters. I have heard UVA ED is good and Northwestern RD.
Oh, and the upward trend doesn't really count. Almost everyone has an upward trend; I do too. It's because as a freshman everyyyyone is getting used to college. It's not like this is unique to you or anything.
