3.25/ 174 - looking for T14
I know this is similar to a lot of posts - sorry about that.
Specifics:
average private undergrad - 3.25
honors program + lots of clubs and volunteer stuff
175 LSAT (this was a retake - the first lsat was 169)
applying for Fall of 2012
by fall of 2012 I will have 2 years of full time work experience (however this is not super impressive - administrative assistant in an office)
Schools:
My dream school is Chicago. Obviously my numbers aren't quite there - but is it worth the ED or not?
My second choice would be Northwestern. Should I be using my ED there instead of Chicago??
I really want to stay in the midwest (specifically Chicago or Madison).
Thanks for the input!

So the OP is a real question? Assuming it is...
Even with ED, chances at Chicago are nil. They don't dip below their GPA floor often. On the other hand, your chances at NU look pretty solid at RD, so an ED there is probably a waste. Do you not care much about biglaw or are debt-averse? If not, definitely do not ED anywhere because you should get good schollys at WUSTL and UIUC.
If you can do summer start, Michigan is the only Midwest school I would consider applying ED to. But if you'd be happy at Madison, I'd strongly consider a T25 school on the cheap.
There's a lot to consider, but no ED is likely the credited response.

If your second choice is NU, no reason to ED to Michigan. Your chances at UChi aren't even worth mentioning, IMO, but NU should be good. I'd ED to it if it were my second choice and I had almost no chance at my first, but I'm not that debt-averse

I don't think the chances are very good, but I'm a big fan of an ED to one's dream school. And regular decision will result in an auto-ding.UnamSanctam wrote:Tiago knows better than I do. Listen to him over me, every time.Tiago Splitter wrote:ED Chicago.
Since the OP really wants the Midwest and especially Chicago I say give it a shot. Northwestern is a near certain admit as a backup,

Yeah, full disclosure, I'm in a very similar boat and will also be EDing to Chicago because (due to a variety of reasons) it's the only school I would go to over NU and I'm not debt-averse. I know that my chances are practically zero and so I'm tempted to just say screw it and go all in on NU, but I know I'll regret it if I don't get rejected somewhere, so Chicago ED it is! It kind of comes down to how comfortable you are debt. Don't ED if you aren't prepared to pay sticker.Tiago Splitter wrote:I don't think the chances are very good, but I'm a big fan of an ED to one's dream school.
